Spaced out, high, Drunk Feeling. Please help me. (5 MONTHS)

Hi everyone.

My name is Erik. I am a 20 year old male, thin build. 6' 2'' at 170 lbs. I have had really debilitating issues for the last 5 months. The issue is that I feel drunk, spacey, loopy, high and dizzy all the time. It basically feels the same as if you were tipsy or the high feeling you can get. I also have visual disturbances. My vision has become blurry and I have somewhat tunnel vision. I just feel all around out of it. I find myself daydream, when I say this I mean my eyes don't focus on anything (go blurry) and just look at nothing. I think it might be slight double vision. Sounds are also very werid and it takes alot of energy to focus on visual and audio stimulants. Additionally, I am tired all the time. Extremely tired. Some days I will sleep very well for 10-11 hours and still be tired when I wake up and exercise will not wake me up. It is like the type of good solid sleep you have when your body is sick.. My memory has gotten really bad as well as my ability to process thoughts and engage in conversation. Imagine being drunk all the time...first I have been reading on boards like this for a long time now and have seen some people with these symptoms but no answers!! People seem to disappear. I hope hey have solved this problem but please let me know how!

Let me start by giving some background information. In August 2015 I was in an indoor rock climbing gym and fell from 15 feet straight onto my back. I could not move for a good 15 minutes because it hurt so bad. I wasn't able to do anything athletic after that day for at least a month. However, I did not have my current symptoms after this fall.

Fast forward to December 15th 2015. I got really sick, was in bed for 4 days. Sore throat, eyes hurt like crazy, and super tired. It was during and after these 4 days that I developed a headache. This headache causes a pressure/dull/sharp pain behind my eyes, the upper bridge of my nose and right in between my eyes on my forehead. This headache lasted for about 4 months.

At about 3 weeks into the headache I went and saw an ENT as I thought it was a sinus infection. i took multiple sets of antibiotics over the course of the next month to no avail. I got blood tests and liver test at around 2 months into the headache and nothing showed abnormal. I then was able to get into a nuerologist. They were unable to find anything after taking an MRI of my head with a barium contrast.

Since the beginning of my headache I have been seeing a (PT) physical therapist mostly for my neck and back since after the fall my back is sore constantly. I had a neck injury about 5 years ago on a trampoline so I have a sore neck, tight muscles alot from that.

At about 3 months into the headache (3/15/2015) I developed a new symptom, the drunk/high, dizziness, loopiness. I had the headache at the same time at this point. My PT suggested that I may have a blood vessel being pinched in my neck or a nerve being pinched in my mid back area where my rock climbing fall pain is mostly at.

I have been to 3 different chiropractors since this has occured about 5 times to each one. It has not helped so far. My PT gave me massages in my affected back and neck areas.

Also a new thing I've noticed recently is that when I look up (bend my neck to look at the sky) I seem to get some sort of relief? Also ever since the loopy part started (this did not happen when I just had the headache) any amount of alcohol at all will make me SUPER DRUNK, literally like 2 sips. I used to be able to drink 3 full beers before getting buzzed.

I am thinking I want my doctor to give me a full head (brain/upper atlas) to lower back (tailbone) MRI so that my nerves and blood vessels going to my brain can be evaluated. Do you think this is a good idea? Has anyone had these symptoms before? I am now 5 months into this and it is debilitating.

No doctor is taking me seriously because I am so young and the chances of having a serious problem are supposedly slim because of my age. PLEASE HELP!!! I feel like I'm caught in a dream and losing my awareness and my IQ. I am afraid something is damaging my brain and this is going to be permanent.

hey. so this is the first time ive ever met someone with my same symptoms....mine started 6 or 7 years ago.....when they started they were on and off. Some doctor wrote it off as "silent migraines" about 5 years ago I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. After that the feeling of being drunks slowly got more frequent.

I'm now dealing with it every single day.....it's been a year.... of every day feeling drunk most of the day.....I'm falling apart. The doctors won't listen to me. I can't drive on my own anymore, I ran 3 red-light because I couldn't remember what the red light meant......I'm 26 years old and I have 3 children.....I don't do drugs, I don't drink, I'm a lightweight I can only handle like 2 glasses of wine anyways.

I want a scan done of my brain and a full blood panel.

The part that scares me is all my moms aunts died of brain cancer, my grandma has alzheimers((spelling?)) and my dad's uncle has Parkinsons ((spelling?)) so yeah I'm scared.....I just want to see my world clearly....I want to have real memories. my youngest is 6 months old.....having a 6 month old and feeling drunk all the time is really really depressing. I have such a hard time focusing on anything because of it......please if you get a diagnosis or a lead let me know. I think we have the same thing. My husband thinks it's a blood sugar thing.

most probably if you got tasted for everything and results are normal you may have PPPD.

It is very common and gives you all kind of strange and debilitating symptoms.

The treatment for it is vestibular rehabilitation exercises(very important to not overdo them) and antidepressants.

Basically your brain is in fight or flight mode all the time and sensitive to any pattern, sound or self movement.

I had lightheadness/dizziness drunk feeling 24/7 for about 8 months until I started doing the exercises slowly and gradually increasing the difficulty (I was overdoing them the first 7 months).

Now i am normal like 1-2 months then 1 week of dizziness and so on... I may try the medication route if this continues.

following, i have had these exact same symptoms recurring since having covid two months ago. They're very debilitating

    Hi there,

I've been having a similar experience for the past 10 months now.

It started last September. I took a single untested pill of Ecstasy on the same weekend that I was exposed to COVID.

A few days after, I had a very bad migraine attack where I had a horrible pain in the back of my head, and became confused, stumbling into things and experiencing various strange symptoms. Random numbness, issues with word recall, etc.

Ive had these attacks twice before in my life, at least a year apart.

But a few days after this one, my brain fully unplugged for good. I became super irritable and felt like I was living in a dream nonstop - I felt oversensitive to light and noises. I felt very depressed and anxious, with back pain and tons of muscle twitching.

The worst symptom was the depersonalization, which was very bad for a few days - and completely new and traumatic.

These symptoms persisted for the coming months to varying degrees. They gradually improved, but still remain. I saw the most improvement at around the 6 month mark, but then got COVID again which I think set me back.

Throughout the months, I've seen multiple neurologists and doctors. I've done bloodwork and had an MRI of my

    head with no remarks.

Curious to hear how you're doing now.

Hello. I just came across this blog, too. As it and many comments are from a few years ago, I thought I would write to you directly since your comment is more recent like mine. I’m sorry that your son is going through this. It really is absolutely horrible. I have had some recent relief from Dysport injections, which i just posted about here, but I still don't have a definitive diagnosis. If you or your son would be interested in chatting a bit, let me know. I don’t know anyone else who is experiencing what I am experiencing, and it would be nice to chat with someone who understands.

    **Dysport / Botox Injections **

I have been experiencing similar symptoms for about two years, and have not found a doctor who can definitively diagnose or treat me.

My symptoms started with a series of intense, chronic headaches in 2019, which sent me to the ER where I saw a neurologist who did an MRI that came back normal. I have continued to see that neurologist who has since been troubleshooting my symptoms as Status Migrainosus or "intractable migraine," i.e. migraine that does not respond to treatment. (There were a few occasions where, a 7-day dose of oral steroids made me feel better but only for a few days and then the symptoms all came back.) I am unsure of this diagnosis, however, as headache is no longer my main symptom, but rather the intense brain fog, confusion, spacey feeling, and utter exhaustion that you and others have described.

In April this year, I decided on my own to try Dysport injections (similar to Botox) firstly for my forehead wrinkles and secondly to see if it would help improve my condition, if in fact it is some sort of migraine. Lo and behold it did, almost immediately. I felt noticeably different within an hour of the injections and felt like an entirely new person within 24 hours. Every day that passed, I felt better and better. I had no symptoms at all for about two months, until the Dysport started to wear off in late June, and I could feel the them starting to creep back. I am now three months post-treatment and feel absolutely horrible again. I am getting another round of injections tomorrow, but with actual Botox this time as it is stronger and should last longer. Fingers crossed that i feel better again in a day or two.

If the injections do work again, it will be a huge relief to know that I have an effective treatment plan going forward. However, I would still like to know what this condition is. Is it actually migraine? Is it something else? Who can answer this? There must be SOMETHING that is causing all of us to feel like this. If you are still hosting your group, I would love to join and discuss this further. Thanks!
