Specialist follow ups

I saw the neuromuscular - orofacial TMJ specialist today.  He is convinced my ETD symptoms are being caused by the TMJ.  The splint I've been wearing needed to be built up on the left side and he thinks that will help with the masseter muscle pain and the ears.  He said if I keep wearing the splint and keep going to PT and doing jaw exercises... that he expects the ears to fully resolved within a few weeks.  He's been doing this over 30 years and I really want to believe him but I'm so afraid its not going to work.  He said nearly all of his TMJ patients with ear fullness have been successfully treated.

I go back to the ENT-allergist tomorrow and I'm going to get his opinion.  The ENT-allergist I've been seeing referred me back to the guy I'm seeing tomorrow because he's closer to get the allergy shots from (10 min. compared to 50 min).  He's convinced it's allergies.  I don't have ANY allergy symptoms other than etd symptoms and a blocked feeling behind my nose (which has went away for now!).  I'm going to get his opinion about allergies vs. TMJ.

Morning Ann, Well, if this specialist is right I'm really happy for you.  I still think mine is related Allergic Rhinitis.  There are too many of us on here suffering the same for it to be TMJ related.  However, as we are all so desperate to find a cure for this very dibilitating conditio, anything is worth a try.

Good luck, stay in touch to let us all know if it works for you.

    Anne

The ENT allergist said he thinks the TMJ diagnosis is more likely than the allergies so we are going to keep pursuing it until the end of Oct. I have more fall allergies than spring so we are going to see how I feel then.
