Spegilian Hernia

Following a scan last July  for something totally unrelated, last week I was diagnosed as having a Spegilian hernia on my left side.  Apparently keyhole surgery is necessary and I have been advised that i should have a pre-op appontment next month.  The worst 'scenarios' were pointed out other than that I know very little about them.  I know that I am full of wind and the 'glug, glug. glugs (like a sink emptying) in my left side usually cause pain when they reach the spot of the hernia.  Some days this seems to affect my BMs.  Is this a symptom?

    Mind is the worst at night if I put my arms over my head it relieve the pressure mine did start in my left side and into my back I went to a chiropractor about 4 yrs ago thinking it was my back when he went to crack my back I screamed bloody murder I think that's when it slipped into my chest and I have the same sound it's like someone in blowing water bubbles in my stomach it's crazy not all people with hiatal hernia have this problem but yes that is definitely the system I had mine are way beyond that now I have had this for at least 5 yrs I'm so thankful to finally find out what it is I'll let you no the outcome my surgery is march 25 I'm praying that the dr can do it laparoscopic but he said he may have to open me up I can wait to breath again my hernia is 5 in at this time I feel the best when I get up in the morning I think because my stomach is empty

      Thank you for your info I've had pain lately that goes through to the bottom of my back -haven't had back ache for years.  Good Luck with you op.

    Hiatus hernias and spigelian hernias are totally different things as far as I'm aware.  I had a spigelian hernia and had very few symptoms but had to have it repaired as they are likely to strangulate

      He called mine a hiatal hernia but he had me have 2 more test then said my stomach is now upside down which only 5 % of people with hernia get well I guess I'm not to lucky I no 2 weeks before my surgery I have to drink 2 protein drinks a day and a small lunch he said with the high protein it will shrink the liver which he has to pick up the liver to get to my hernia he said it could take up to 4 and 1/2 hrs to repair this I can't wait to breath again march 25 and this should be over I sit in a recliner with my arms over my head so I can breath it's horrible
