Sphincterotomy, Hemrrhoidectomy and Anal Skin tag removal

Hi! I'm hoping someone in here has been through a similar experience as I have been through and can give me some pointers on what to expect or what helped you.
About a month ago, I got the Botox treatment for my Anal fissure. It was a painful recovery because I had problems with constipation but once they was controlled things got better. Afterwards I developed a very painful skin tag. The tag wasn't so big but it was swollen, irritating and bleeding. I kept contacting the doctor who kept having the nurses peek at it and all they would tell me is keep it clean, keep stools soft and it will eventually go away. The pain just kept getting worse so I decided to see another doctor who suggested to have it removed.
This doctor told me he would remove the skin tag under general anesthesia would do a rectal exam and see if the fissure healed, if not he will do the Sphincterotomy and if he sees any hemorrhoids he would remove that also.
My surgery was yesterday and my poor little heart was nervous. I was hoping that I would be told the fissure healed and no hemorrhoids were found, but that wasn't the case.
He told me there were several hemorrhoids and he did the Sphincterotomy because the fissure was still there and of course removed the skin tag.
Well, it's only been yesterday and I'm drinking nothing but liquids, in fact I've been in liquids in the past 2 days because of this procedure. I don't want to get constipated. As of now I feel a throbbing burning sensation and I'm dreading my first bowel movement. I know pain is inevitable but I'm terrified about what will happen.
Has anyone had this procedure done or something similar done that can maybe give me some pointers?
My anxiety level is pretty high right now so any words of encouragement would help. Thanks guys!

I am sorry I have not had any of these procedure yet. I know a sitz bath after a BM will help you. Also try a lubricant such as ky jelly or even the walmart brand which is about 2 bucks prior to your BM. If you can get rectcare or a form of lidocaine 5 % to apply after your sitz bath this will help. Also take Ibuprofen after your BM. I hope you get relief. Don't get anxious get ready because pain is inevitable with our condition and chronic constipation. Please don't forget dulcolax or doucasate once you start eating solids.

Thank you pecan tan! I appreciate your reply. I still haven't had a bowel movement. I've been on nothing but liquids Monday-Thursday, and yesterday I've started with smoothies and pureed soups and alot of water. I had oatmeal today, some fruit, and some soup...I'm very anxious still...I'm doing all I can think of to make sure it's smooth. I'm taking stool softeners, Miralax, prune juice...and I do have the 5% lidocaine that you recommended. I know pain is inevitable. Just trying to tell myself it can't be any worse than what I've already been through and that kind of helps build my courage a little..

Hi dear I had done the LIS but I haven't remove the skin tag. I think you lucky that all that proseddure happen to you . Your skin tag been removed you had LIS you had piles removed. The only think will heard is the skin tag fissure will be ok and some pain with piles. Trust opperation it the best option. As you do drink plenty of liquid. Take stool softener, maybe twice a day for few until the pain goes away. When I had my opperation I felt straight way good. The next day I walk for 1 hour with out any discomfort. Keep strong you will go true that all the best . Tell me how are you. There is always slight at the end of tunnel

Hello! Thanks for your response! I had my first BM yesterday and I hardly felt anything. I was terrified because the stitches from the skin tag removal have been bothering me even though I've been keeping it clean and applying lidocaine cream on it. But i was really glad I had no pain during the BM and today was the same also. But yes, I'm staying hydrated, taking stool softeners and also I'm very careful with my diet. I hope this will encourage anyone else going through this because it's not easy and can be scary for someone like me that's afraid of anything that can hurt, even a needle. Thanks for your response! And yes surgery is better! In fact, I feel that the recovery for surgery was easier for me than the recovery for the Botox procedure. I'm not sure why but I think it's because I had already figured out how to control my constipation issues. I'm just relieved that the BMs have been easy and painless and I hope and pray anyone with this issue has a painless recovery also. After all, anal fissures are painful enough already.
Best Wishes!

Yes it did. It took several weeks for recovery but I'm ok now. And I'm still careful with what I eat.

Hi very happy for you .I was very worried about my first BM. But it turn up ok. Your fissure may hill in 2 weeks or more don't be worry about it. I was bleeding for 4 months after operation. Keep going some ppl had 6 months bleeding after op. They hill too .the reason I am sharing that with you. Because this is the next target. Trust me worst is over the spasms after bm gone that's the worst thing about fissure. Another thing I can say sometimes you want bleed for sometime and little bet hard bm you bleed. Don't get dissipointed as I say worst is over . Good luck

toorialay18313, thanks for your kind and encouraging words. I have an update to make. While my BM was soft enough to pass, these last two days have been more hard and painful. I am bleeding. I went to the doctors office yesterday and only the nurses and physicians assistant saw me. They told me I have an open wound near the anal area which is why I'm having pain and bleeding. I'm also having some swelling. Over all that area is so sensitive it hurts to wipe efficiently. Today has been a rough day as I had a painful BM and now the pain with the open wound makes it far worse. I also feel that not all of it is coming out. I'm so frustrated. They tell me time and patience, do the sitz baths, dont get constipated, keep it clean. No matter how hard I try not to get constipated, it always comes back for some reason. I spent all morning crying because this is really depressing me. Its just hard to be positive when so many negatives happen. I really hope this passes and that I can finally live my life normally. As of now, I'm feeling very sad about everything.

I also had Botox for chronic fissures and a perianal skin tag removed and my life has been nothing but pain and misery.
My surgery was dec19th and the pain the next 2 days wasn’t too bad. Then my anaesthetic wore off and hells bells.
I had the skintag cauterised and it seems to have left me with a massive hole! I’ve not been out of pain since. I’m no longer having easier BM and I’m back to having really excruciating movements with epic amounts of blood. How long should the skin tag take to heal? I think that’s were the majority of the bleeding has come from.
OP how are you now 4 months on??

Hello. How long did it take to heal the area where your skin tag was? I had a lateral internal sphincteronomy 2 months ago. Now I am left with this tag looking piece of skin that hurts after a bowel movement, hurts to sit, feels like pressure, and like a foreign object stuck in my butt. The doctors keep saying...it should start to retract but so far, no such luck. I have been depressed about this. I thought my healing process was going to be a few weeks. Now it's two months and they are saying could be several more months. And I could be left with a small tag tbey could cauterize. I am very unhappy with this surgery and I am hoping to get this removed.

hello, I had the same thing happen to me. my doctor performed LIS surgery without removing the skin tag. in my case I was very unfortunate because the open LIS resulted in an anal fistula forming. when I went it for my fistula surgery I removed the skin tag with it. i am now 7 weeks post and the skin tag is still healing. The surgeon told me it would take uo to 12 weeks im still waiting!

how are you now? I am in the same situation before you even had your surgery. I am scheduled next week and my anxiety is sky high. I also have pre anal cancer on top of all of this in the area where they are removing the skin tags so I am so scared if it spreads. Where you having the spasms and are your fissures gone now?
