Spinal Foundation, Rochdale.

Hi everyone i'm new on here. I've posted a simillar letter on the 'disc prolapse' forum. I'm asking 'has anyone on here, or do you know of anyone that had any disectomys or laminectomies or any spinal operation at The Spinal Foundation Hospital in Rochdale, Lancashire from the mid 1990s onwards?'. This is a private hospital and back then you could'nt just choose where to have your op like nowadays. You had to get a referral from your GP and wait for the funding to be paid by your own regional funding. I would like to here from anyone who had an op on the NHS at this private hospital. How long did you have to wait for your op once the surgeon told you that you needed one. Was your op a success?. How were you treated personally by STAFF AND SURGEONS?. The main spinal surgeons when a relative of mine had their operation in the mid 1990s were a DR GOSWAMI AND DR MARTIN KNIGHT. Thankyou so much for reading this.

Hi Dave, I've not had an op at this private hospital but I've had a Microdiscetomy in The Nuffield Glasgow in 07. I was referred by through jumping through NHS hoops. I had MRI on NHS and was then sent to surgeon at private hospital to let him check me over. He did a Discography to find the specfic source of my pain and once found booked me in. After the NHS referral and once in the private system it took from first consultation to Op 6 weeks. Appointment at end of August, discography mid September and Op second week of October. Always dealt with the surgeon and one nurse when admitted. This was my first op and have to say I was pain free for 4 years till L4/L5 went in 2012 and more hoops had to be jumped through but ended up with emergency op due to developing Cauda Quina. I hope this is help ie time scales!

Hi Scott, sorry for the delay in replying. What a fantastic short wait you had with your first operation. How are you doing now after your second operation?. Thankyou for the reply.

No worries. I'm still not right after 2nd op. Attending Spinal Rehab Physio (private) now to see if they can help things. 50/50 at the moment. Private will be faster than NHS and normally by a fair margin unless it's an emergency op like my second.

      Good luck
