I had my surgery back in Dec 2015. it was a bilateral 3 level lumbar i have 10 screws and more hardware downthere cadavar replacements anyway. i have the normal numbness in my theigh but its not just a spot its my whole left theigh and its not just numb its painful too. i still have a lot of pain in my back i should be feeling better now but there are times i can not put pressure on my left leg it is extremely painful. there is burning just on the left side of my spine and it feels like i am getting torn to pieces. it stings like a bee. does anyone have any idea what is going on? I lost my good insurance and had to take state insurance and had to change pain drs. he took me off of oxycodone 15 every 4 hours and put me on morphine sulfate 15 every 12 hours. so since that change i have not been able to do anything. i cant make dinners i cant do laundry i cant do much of anything. does anyone have any idea what could possibly be happening? I have an MRI tomorrow and hopefully something can be figured out. I dont want something wrong but i hate the  words i dont see anything and push you aside.

It sounds to me if your instrumentation has come lose or you have another nerve issue.

The MRI should show this up.

At times the body can reject the metal work that is put into us. Hopefully it's nothing too serious and they can fix it pretty quickly.

Let us know what the MRI says.

Google. Meralgia paraesthetica, I have spinal problems, have had a fusion, and have had this in both thighs for years now.

I've been told it's inflammation of the nerves, it's not a common condition but is well known by Doctors.

Suzy the more I heasf about fusion the more I am scared of having it. I am going to the pain clinic next week or so where I am having a spin injection (xray lead)

This is the 5th none of the others worked so not expecting this one to work. I may have to go back to my surgeon\consultant and it would be recommended for me to have fusion.....

      So a bit worried.

I know that replacement discs are also hi and miss. So do you know what my next step would be. I appreciate each country is different in their stance regarding nerves and prolapsed discs anne

I can't believe they keep trying after 4 failed attempts with the injections? I had one, didn't work, move on. They are damn uncomfortable to have in the first place, mines was like my back was about to explode!

I'd see your surgeon and take a list of questions to ask. He's never going to give you a 100% guarantee but mine gave me an 85% chance and that was with a double fusion.

There are success stories but you'll find the more you read the more you will find unsuccessful stories. That's the nature of these forums.

So far mine is healing well so I'd say you should give it serious thought.
