Spinal pain in between shoulders a nightmare

The pain I get in between the shoulder blades is horrible, that part of the spine starts as a aching knot then gets to a sharp burning pain, it seems to spread further up and reaches neck which causes a tender aching pain there too, it even sometimes causes a sting pain in my left arm, it's driving me mad, what on earth is causing it, any ideas

Sounds like a trapped nerve possibly at cervical spine level C4 -C5.

Hi Ray,
Have you gone to doc yet? If it is disk problems DO NOT go to orthopedic doc,
make sure you go to a neurologist. Sound like you have a bulging and or blown disk.
Won't know until you have an MRI. I have had 10 fusions over the years. Just make
sure you exhaust every option before letting them do surgery. If you have any questions
I will answer what I can. Hope you feel better soon.

Hi and thank you very much for your reply and help, again I think you could be right too , I've already got a bulging disc in the lumbar region, I think L5, that's pressing on a nerve and now this at the top between shoulder blades, so that would cause pain in neck and shoulders?

Mine comes and goes. I have spondylitis and mine is caused by autoimmune inflammation so I agree with the commenter above that you should see a rheumatologist or several for second opinions. Have them do blood tests for inflammation And an autoimmune panel too. There's a possibility that an autoimmune disease can affect your spine but it can also be mechanical pain too if you have osteoarthritis or an injury.

If it is cervical stenosis or spondylitis then the pain in my experience, is like having agonising toothache and earache at the same time.
This gradually wore me down because of sleep depravation to the point where after weeks of suffering I began to explain it to my non sympathetic gp, who at the time thought it was muscle sprain, and just broke down and refused to leave until further investigation was agreed.
It is very easy for people to just dismiss you and say go take a painkiller, until they experience it themselves.
Mike.
