Spinal stenosis

Hey guys,

I was wondering if anyone can help me. I am 53 years old living in London with severe spondylosis on neck c2-c7. Middle and lumbar spine problem also. Epidermium and steroid treatment has been done but has been unsuccessful. I am taking pregablin on maximum dose, pain killer patch, tramodol which I am taking. I am on type 1 diabetes for 21years and taking insulin on 190 units a day. I have also got cardiac problem and have had 5 angina attacks, blood pressure, cholesterol and nerve problems, etc...15-20 orthapedic and neuro surgeons have refused to operate on me. I am not financially capable of doing private surgery. Anyone suggests what options I have? As most of the problems related to diabetes I have.

Please advise!!

Thanks

Hullas

What reason have they given for not operating. I have just had spinal surgery declined but it was due to the risk over current situation.

You can always ask for a second opinion in the UK.

I think my point was more you sound like you want the operation as you at the end of your tether, hence mention private health options

The risk needs to be balanced of your current quality of life I would say too

I was actually on the table getting ready for my operation when the anathesiologist came in and said , " How long have you had diabetes ?" I said I don't have diabetes . But I guess I have type 2 and would have found out earlier in the year if i wouldn't have been having shoulder surgery . I missed my appt, with my encronologist . Anyway I went home pretty shaken but I lost some weight, got my diabetes under control and then I went back and had the surgery . I think in this situation you might ask the doctor that was nearest to doing it what it would take to change their mind . I know they don't want you to die on the table which is why they refuse . It's possible that diet , exercise, weigh loss could help. Just an idea . I have quit drinking, am losing weight and am walking every day . I am totally changing my life . It is hard and I am not lying but you never know where that first step can lead, good luck .
