spine pain when laying down only

hello there,

i am suffering for few years from one big problem - whenever i lay down on soft surface only (mattress, sofa etc.) or sit down on soft chairs i have pain in the middle of the back, the pain is a feeling of pain on the spine and the muscles close to it are stretching and i have a feeling like they expend and go to normal, expend and normal etc. if i insert something firm benath the area when laying down like a piece of wood or even my hand - no pain.

everything started 4 years ago: i went to an accupanture and he niddleed my back, i had lots of pain at that moment and i was suffering for 2 weeks afterwards with muscles spasms all over the back, then it relaxed but i am suffering the problem which i mentioned since then. my spine is ok but the muscles are killing me, someone told me it's probably multifidus muscles but the PT doesn't helps, i can't lay down to sleep unless i have some bengai on this area, how van i treat it? really really need help here, thank you in advanced

    Leo79513,

Have you gone to a neurologist yet? See I had a fusion done in 1999 ever since that I have pain in the area of my fusion and like you I have the same problem, I was just told that I have sclerosis inside my fusion area, so right now they are fixing a problem with a spinal cord stimulator, and than they will look into my pain in there, I would definitely get the area checked out by a neurologist or have some kind of scan or MRI, hope you follow up and keep us posted on what they find.

    Good luck

thank you cynthia for the reply.

i will check it but i have to say that during the day - no pain, laying on the floor (hard floor) - no pain even on firm chairs - no pain when sitting.

so if i had a problem shouldn't i have pain throughout the day? it's only happening on soft surface like the spine getting a bit curved and the muscles can't support it (that's what i think, not necessarily i am right) i'll be happy to fix this problem with a kind of support to the back when the back relaxing on soft surfaces , i wouldn't again to have any kind of surgery/ niddle or something like that , i have bad experiance with that

    thanks
