Its very confusing John, your spirometry test (as you posted above said lower end of normal.  That would suggest your don't have COPD.

But its good they are checking you again in 12 months.  But if I were you I would want a copy of the diagnosis letter, then you will know for sure either way.

Hi Vee2 do you mean the letter from the hospital ? if yes i have asked the doctor and just said it shows emphysematous changes.

But if this test is all good i would of thought i have very mild ?

May you should ask your doctor outright, "do I have COPD / emphysema"

      see what he says.

A respiratory consultant can tell which lung disease you have from a CT scan. Your information doesn't sound complete to me.

The nurse who did my test today said i don't have COPD

I never seen a respiratory consultant at hospital just a specialist who did the ct scan to see if i had anything that would make me lose weight.

John congratulations on your good report.  I pray you will stay off the cigarettes or other smokes.  You got a reprieve from a non cureable but containable disease.  So.  I am grateful for you.    I like Vee2 would also not just depend on the nurse or respiratory consultant.  Although your numbers a great a do not compute to COPD, I would most certainly get the report and straight up ask the doctor...You need that information for future reports and testing.  Best wishes to you.  God Bless....Stay Smoke Free and Breath Easy.  Breathless...p.s.  say a prayer my numbers are so low on the FEV they are bringing in oxygen tanks for me to sleep with and one to carry with me while traveling.  we Will see if this helps with the headaches.....but they have found  that during REM sleep I am not breathing as normal non copd people do, so I am not taking in enough oxygen and not expelling enough carbon dioxide.  I'll let you know how it works.

Breathless but breathing moving and on the go,

      Hi Breathless,

I am so sorry to hear that your FEV numbers are low let's hope the oxygen tanks really help i do think about everyone on here who has this all the time. And i will certainly say a prayer for you.

Yes my numbers are good and will ask the doctor but i think it's very early signs of Emphysema from smoking for over 40 years which the ct scan picked up early, so hopefully the changes i make will stop it getting any worse.

Update been to doctors they told me it only says emphysematous changes on the notes from the hospital and it must be very mild, and my lung test was normal. told me stop smoking and exercise and it should all improve and hopefully stay stable.
