    Hi Josh,

Thankfully when doctor examined me they didn't think my spleen was swollen, although I did get some strange glandular type pain and twinges around that upper left abdomen area througout the virus, I think that kind of thing can be very normal during the virus.

I would definitely recommend to keep checking in with the doctor if the spleen is swollen at all as it's important to be really careful and protective of that area if so.

It is awful going through pain and any issues with stomach / back / spleen, I do empathise particularly with back pain as to how hard it can be and how much it can get you down. Just wanted you to know I'm still thinking about you Josh, and remember that this phase 3 or 4 months in can be when the virus is at its peak and the hardest to cope with because it's been at such an intense level for so many weeks / months.

But really want to reassure that things will get better and move towards recovery, I know they say with spleen issues with mono that it can happen in the early stages but in the vast majority of cases it settles back down to normal size / levels, but you really need to be careful for a number of weeks while that happens is my understanding, to avoid anything that could cause blows or significant movement to it.

You will get there Josh - I know that can be so very hard to see when in the midst of the awful phase of this virus - but truly this thing really is an awful virus and causes so much havoc in your body but your body does recover from it fully with time. God heals and I believe you are going to get through this and get better again with His help. Remember to rest and look after yourself and be kind to yourself at this time too!!

P.S. Bowen Therapy is something that helped me for different aches and pains and fatigue over a number of years, particular sciatic pain which is truly was wonderful for - not sure but might be worth looking into for mono too, could have real benefits - it's very safe and non-evasive

Can anyone tell me how long their spleen stayed enlarger i am hurting in my left side and back about where the spleen is and its been going on for over a week now earlier in the sickness it seems to be just the front of my upper abdomen now its the back to it is almost as if it is throbbing and it is started to freak me out. It is a weird spasm feeling then throbbing mostly when i lay down but it also hurts as if it was a pulled muscle but it does not make sense to hurt when i do stuff and when i am doing nothing. Once again anxiety starts getting worse and making me freak out and feel worse. I am tired of going to the doctor and them saying nothing is wrong or it is normal or it is just the mono. It is very unsettling and making it hard for me to sleep or even keep my mind off of it for more than a minute at a time.

    hi Josh

sorry to hear that you have this awful virus and that your spleen is giving you trouble. i had an enlarged spleen for the first six months or probably even longer and then more recently it became enlarged again around 14 months for around two weeks. i remember having pain after everytime i ate as my stomach pushed against my spleen. i also remember that it gave me a lot of anxiety as it was constantly sore. take heart though that as you recover, so too will your spleen return to normal. my natropath gave me a mushroom powder for my spleen and im not sure if it did much but psychologically it made me feel better to know i was doing something towards making it better.

    wishing you a speedy recovery
