i was diagnosed with PMR two years ago very shortly after completing a fitness competition. Started on 15 mg of prednisone now weaned down to 2mg , having a few flares up as well It now seems i cant back to weight training because when i do im in pain after and not sure if its the pmr or stiffness from the exercise

You are maybe trying to jump in the deep end. Try with VERY low levels for the start and build up VERY slowly.

If the underlying cause of the symptoms we call PMR us still active it does leave your muscles intolerant of acute exercise. If you want to get back to weight you have to start with ounces not pounds weights. And maybe add an ounce every couple of weeks or more. Do it slowly enough and it works.

Eileen's suggestion about the weight build up sounds a lot like the approach we use for pred taper. Slowly and surely wins the day. And as she has said and I've plagiarized many times: "It isn't slow if it works".
