My husband has a slipped vertebrae which affects his nerve on his right leg. he was offered fusion but told to wait for it as long as he could. Could waiting cause more nerve damage?

In my experience yes it can cause more pain . When it's more than he can handle then surgery is an option.

always get another opinion. I had L-4 L-4 fused thru an injection. There are many ways and options .

Hi Debra, I am 9 weeks out after having a Laminectomy with Spinal fusion with my own bone graft. I am doing great! I am 55 years old and I have avery physical job working in a MFG warehouse. I had a superb Dr. from Beth Isreal Hospital in Boston, Ma. I too have Spodyloitheses of L5-Sl. Once I had the surgery I was relieved of never pain that went down my right leg, ankle, to toe. I had a hard time

standing upright for more than a minute.  I am an active person who is a runner. I am now able to run a few times a week. I will never be the same but I don't have the constant nerve pain.  Previously, I did have PT and steroid injection with no relief.

It is always good to get a second opinion. I wish your husband the best of health.

    take care.

Thanks for your replies. We are looking into a pain clinic at the moment and are thinking of a second opinion. Thanks everyone! X
