Hi Again!

just a quick question, i had a period 13th October them missed and went 67 days nothing, then started with brown spotting 18th December and a heavy period 23rd December for 5 days. I have had brown spotting since then. When i say brown spotting it is like small dark clots that keep coming away they bearly mark a panty liner but, come away when i wipe after urinating. I assume this is because i went so many days without a period. Anyone else? i google and dr google says i should see my GP. Any advice?

    Hi

This could be perimenopausal symptoms, not sure of your age? As you move toward menopause, period patterns change, sometimes you can have light bleeding, longer times between periods, heavy periods. The discharge can be different, and sometimes where there hasn't been a period for a while, it is possible to get this brown, end of period type discharge.

If you are worried at all, please make an appointment with your GP/Doctor. Perimenopause can be a difficult time with the hormones doing all sorts of things in your body as they wind down. I have gone through it and have been post-menopausal for a couple of years. It is a lot better now, but I still have to watch my diet, keep focussed and do meditation to keep anxiety at bay. Good luck and take care!

    Hi, Amanda,

In perimenopause any bleeding pattern is possible. I have been in peri over 5 years and as it progresses my periods are getting further apart. I went as long as 93 days with no cycle, but the next time I spotted for days and days, then finally started and my period lasted 17 days with heavy flow and clotting, then very light spotting after. I was concerned so I saw my doctor and she advised that any bleeding pattern in peri is possible because of the wild hormone fluctuations. I was put on BHRT and that has helped greatly with all my other horrible peri symptoms, but I do occasionally spot now because of the BHRT and my periods have been regulated somewhat. If you're concerned, see your doctor for peace of mind.

I wish you good health! I'm told this will all pass and look forward to that time! Hugs--Sarah

Sounds pretty normal but if you're like me you wont relax until you talk to your gp. But I'm certain it's within normals for peri.

And stop visiting Dr. Google!! 😁
