Spotting with weird bits of dried blood??

Posted , 3 users are following.

Hello everyone,

I recently got blood work back that confirms my hormones are all over the place so I finally feel like I belong here.

I have been spotting since February, have had 3 ultrasounds and 1 hysteraonogram (the one with saline), 2 endometrial biopsies. The endometrial biopsies came back normal, and 2 ultrasounds found this region they don't know if its a fibroid or polyp. All the doctors say not to worry about cancer but for some reason it's stuck in my mind.

My spotting happens mid-cycle, from mid-cycle all the way to my period. I have also started a week before my period, had a period for 7 days then spotted again for a few days.

Sometimes spotting is brown, sometimes pink, sometimes its just this little spot or fleck of dried blood.

Can someone please confirm this is normal so I can stop panicking? I am driving myself crazy - likely partly because of the anxiety that goes with all this.

Good thoughts and experiences would be much appreciated. Hope everyone is well!

Thank you so much for replying Beth. There is something unnerving about bleeding when you're not supposed to!

I have low progesterone and low iron as well. I am trying bio-identical progesterone and I have iron supplements coming. Shall see if they help. I haven't tried many things yet so not sure what my body will do.

I find this whole perimenopause situation very hard to deal with. I have never been this anxious or panicky. Even when everything points to positive its like your head is determined to only see the negative!

I appreciate the reassurance that someone else has experienced this 😃 I hope both our bodies sort themselves out soon so we get a bit of peace and that you feel better. 2 years is a long time!

      Hi Toria,

What do you have? the weird bleeding or just low progesterone and low iron?

I am in Canada. I had a naturopathic doctor prescibe bio-identical oral progesterone. It appears it has helped with the mid-cycle spotting, but now I spot 4-7 days before my period. I am taking it day 14-28 right now, but as my cycles had gotten shorter I'm thinking of trying day 12-26 next month.

Happy to answer any other questions 😃

Have you checked your ferritin levels? I would just to be safe, that sounds intense! my periods are also heavy, but usually just for 3-4 days. I have spotting on both sides though, so the whole experience can last for 10-17 days. My cycles are around 26 days right now.

Progesterone might be worth investigating. can also help with sleep 😃

      Jade
