spotty back

Posted , 3 users are following.

I have had a big patch of spots on my upper back for a couple of years now – very itchy but not quite a rash, quite sore. I just don't know what to put on it either to relieve the itching or cure the spots. I'm 77 years old so it's not exactly adolescent acne!!! Any ideas for OTC treatment? Don't tell me to go to my GP – I have far more important concerns when I do get to see her for the allotted ten minutes.

have you thought about shingles? very itchy use hydroxyzine will stop the itch in its tracks.

usually if anti histamines don't help the itch is shingles.

Thanks for the suggestion, but shingles only lasts a few weeks, I believe. I've had these spots for over a year!

not true shingles last for months and years in the same area.

It could be eczema. As we age, our skin tends to start drying out. I will send you a message

Thanks Marina. I will try what you suggest! My skin does feel dry on my back as well as spotty! – so that might be the problem.
