Square 1 after a few good days

I think by now everyone is tired of me on this site. I had 3 really good days and nights this week, a tiny bit of underlying anxiety. Then the reverse happened. Instead of being anxious during the day and it lifting around 5, I've become anxious in the evening and sleeping isn't so easy. The other thing I noticed a few of you have mentioned is that choking feeling and loose bm's, and I'm nauseous.... Maybe I'm getting the flu, I'm sure that would be easier to get over. But I am now experiencing both of those. I feel like I'm starting over. In a few days it'll be 4 weeks on 20 mg, I think I see improvement, then something crops up. And on top of it, I'm so sleepy-tired. More so than just the waking up at night. I'm ready to give up on this medicine and go back to name brand Effexor XR.

Hi Jennifer. I no longer take Lexapro. My anxiety worsened after being on it for a total of 10 weeks. That's unusual for most people. So I went back to what I was on for week over 12 years.... Effexor XR 75 mg.

Most everyone on Lexapro do well. And I hope you are too! Let me know!

      Hi jen,

      Definitely stick it out

16 days is still early, if u can i would suggest giving it a full 4-6 weeks on 15mg before bumping up

U really gotta give these meds time to work but i know its rough in the meantime...

I just dont want u to overmedicate if the solution is simply time

Im over 12 weeks into lexapro 10mg and back to myself. No anxiety! No low moods! No side effects!

      Best of luck

Jennifer.. Day 13 of 12.5mg. Almost 8 weeks of 10 mg...I'm a little rattled .. Which makes aniexty... Little nauseated..my emotions are all over the place..but it kind of lifts around afternoon.. I'm just giving it time to all settle down.. I wish now I had stayed on 15 mg. instead of moving down after 4 days but the side effects after 4 days was rough.. We all will make it.. It's just the time it takes to get to where we want to get.. We need to remember we are all different in the fact of our DNA and how we react to meds. And our bodies as a whole.. Stay in touch..we will get there...😊

Hi Lois, Nikki. I really had to get a new phone and couldny sign back in for a while. I'm back.

For the most part, I've been okay, but lately, for about a week, my anxiety has cropped up in the middle of the night. Today has been rough, and I'm so sleepy from not sleeping well last night. Weird dreams for a week, intrusive thoughts. I don't know why I'm having a setback. I see the therapist tomorrow. How are you ladies?

      Hi Tammy!

      R u still on lexapro 75mg?

If you dont mind me asking, what exactly is your diagnosis? Anxiety non specified, GAD, depression etc?

Just thought I'd ask because having that info may help me form an opinion as to why the setback

For example I have pmdd which is totally hormonal and in some ways eadier to fix, for lack of a better word.

Anyway I'm sorry for the set back

Hi Lois Ann, remember me, I started that thread "square one...". I have a PTSD anxiety disorder revolving around a terrible fall over 16 years ago. It triggered something in me that has never resolved.

I WAS on Lexapro for about 10 weeks and i had an adverse reaction to it. So I went back to effexor XR 75 name brand. Been on it for about 3 full months then out of the blue started having breakthrough anxiety. I am seeing my therapist today. But I like coming here for support.

Yes ok. Now I remember...it's been a while lol

Yes its weird that the breakthrough anxiety came out of nowhere

Did anything recently happened in your life to trigger u?

      Yes talk to your pdoc

      We are here for you

Well, yes and no... I haven't been home for 3 weekends in a row, my aunt passed away, then a family wedding that same evening. This weekend we have a family wedding in Florida and afterward, my husband is doing a conference there. Will be gone a total of 10 days, but I'll be with him. I don't do well with constant change, back and forth. I'm not sleeping, I have very little energy. And a headache every day. Therapist said to start over doing what I was doing at the beginning of this journey (when I started Lexapro). I was praying a lot, walking 3 miles, journaling. I guess when everything starts falling into place, I slack off. I can't do that. I have to be diligent. It's exhausting though.
