St. John's Wort Effectiveness

I'm trying to come off Mirtazapine and can't seem to get past 15 mg so I was thinking about trying St. John's Wort and was wondering if others have used it and if so did it help? I already exercise and take a lot of omega-3's but I still can't seem to get off this crap..
I know there's warnings about taking it with antidepressants because of serotonin syndrome but my doctor wants to always add on other medications which I refuse to do so I don't know if St. John's Wort would really be a problem. Any info would be appreciated and thanks in advance!

Glad to hear it works for you but it hasn't worked for me so I'm trying to get off of it and if your free to have your own opinion on Mirtazapine as is everyone in this forum. Best of luck to you and I hope you have continued success with Mirtazapine.

I have been on Mirtazapine for 8 years ever since my young daughter who I loved very much died in a motor vehicle accident. I started on 45mg but reduced it to 30 then two years ago to 18mg. Last month I stopped taking it altogether and replaced it with St John's Wort, dug straight out of the ground on my property where it is classed as a noxious weed and I am legally obliged to eradicate it. I make it into a tea and drink it in the morning because it can cause insomnia when taken at night. i find it works well and gives me energy, so I recommend you try it.
