St.Johns Wort...good replacement?

Has anyone used St.Johns Wort?

I hear it's a good natural replacement, but every website says not to mix it and sertraline together. Has anyone jumped from Sertraline to it?

Any thoughts appreciated! smile

Hi no don't use it with sertraline, personally I had a terrible reaction to it and will.never take it again.

As long as you're off sertraline you can take 5HTP and L-Tyrosine together. I think you can get them from Holland and Barrett in UK. It's non.habit forming and a natural.supplement to boost your serotonin levels which is why you have to get the sertraline or other SSRI out of your system before you start taking it.

Let us know how it goes?

      Thank you for that Gerry.

I'm just being a bit impatient really. I'm just wondering if there is a slightly more holistic and more efficient medication I can take that doesn't have the side effects.

I've heard of 5HTP, but not the other. What's your experience of them?

I've not taken them myself but heard on this forum of others who have tried them to try and avoid going back on to SSRIs. I think I may give it a go in the future if need be. I think the L-Tyrosine works hand in hand with the 5HTP so you have to take both.

Thank you Gerry, I'll take a look into them both!

      Hi

I have been off mirtazapine for 6 weeks now do you think it's safe enough for me to try 5htp?

      Hi Marianne,

Glad to hear things are going well for you. Well done getting off the mirtazepine. Personally I would have thought 6 weeks was fine but I'm not a dr . Perhaps when you buy it they may be able to advise you unless any one on this forum can advise?

      Regards Gerry
