Stabbing Chest Pains

Hi! So, I have anxiety and panic attacks, but there are times where I have this pain in my chest like someone has stabbed me. It only lasts for a second and then I’m totally fine. When it comes it’s super random (but usually right before I go To sleep). When it happens I usually just sit up in bed and breathe in deeply for 10 counts rubbing the area in my chest where I felt the pain and then I’m fine. Not sure if this random, sharp, stabbing pain is related to me anxiety or what it is? I’ve had multiple blood tests and ECG’s that have come back with great results and I don’t have blood pressure issues and I have a strong pulse. So, I don’t think it’s an issue with my heart. Just wondering if anyone else has had this happen before...

it may be acidity levels in your stomach causing the pain. I would drink some water and take a rennie

One EKG when I was 17 and started with panic attacks. However, I did question the doctors and went more than one time to inquire of the doctor next door. He was irritated when I said that I wanted to talk about my heart, but I really thought that something was wrong. Start reading on psychosomatic symptoms, pain in the chest is common. If the doctors say nothing is wrong, tense muscles and nerves can cause many symptoms.  The stab in the chest is typical of anxiety. Sometimes it is trapped air due to anxious breathing pattern or indigestion. They come on suddenly. I am much older now but I remember the feelings very well. The important thing is to relax first and then work on what is causing your anxiety. Talk therapy and sometimes meds work. I took valium years ago and now a derivative of valium. It helps you relax, but can be addictive. Try deep breathing and relaxation. Your symptoms are very common.

Yesterday I booked an appointment with a therapist that specializes in anxiety and accupuncture for anxiety! So hopefully after a few sessions it’ll all be under control! I also always sleep on my left side, where I felt the stabbing pain, and it could be tight muscles too! Thank you! smile

    Hello.

    Sorry your feeling this way!

I have this often and have learned to ignore it after I've had it checked out and determined it was gas and a combination of acid reflex.

I feel like it was my acid reflux, seeing as I ate right before I got into bed! I have had issues with acid reflux in the past and usually I know not to eat right before bed and I had been doing so well. Last night was just not one of those nights. Thank you so much! smile
