Stabbing pain in the front of my shin

Posted , 2 users are following.

Yesterday evening sitting watching the TV I suddenly had this stabbing pain in the front of my shin and it kept coming and going for half an hour, then disappeared for 20 mins then back again for another 20mins.

It then went and I have not had it since, I did notice that the vein on my front ankle seemed to be slightly swollen, plus the pain was really, really painful.

I would like to know what causes this sort of pain, is it muscular or a nerve or something in the vein??

If I go to a GP I now have nothing to show him, therefore any thoughts or suggestions gratefully appreciated.

I think you should go to your GP. This may be pain caused by artery problems and it needs some investigating. Your GP will have ideas by the way you describe the pain and the location. Are you on any medication?

Thanks for your reply, I did wonder if it may be caused by artery problems, I have not felt it since Sunday evening, but will try my GP tomorrow, if only to ease my own mind.
