may 65-sep 68 first class 4d 

sep 68 -feb 71 first class 5d 

now its about 65p for a first class its a bit hard to keep up because they dont put the price on the stamp on any more . another thing they do so you dont question it . clever so and so's

    It's called inflation Tiswas, or in street-speak, rodgering the population so that bankers earn more, the politicians can keep making their bit on the side and the queen can keep her palace.

    Although the price of stamps got greater and greater, strangely the physical size never changed much.

    Pound for pound I think it is true to say that increase in price of a first class stamp has grown more than the cost of taking a ferry to the Isle of Wight.

    I think they do better than that. Anything other than normal requires extra postage. Bung an un priced stamp on plus some more and get it wrong and the recipient pays heavily for your mistake - a penalty plus the amount of the shortage.
