Stapedotomy reversal

Posted , 1 user is following.

Hi folks,

Long sufferer or otosclerosis at 42 years old. Four years ago i had a stapedotomy on my right ear which while it fixed my hearing it has completely messed up with my tinnitus, which before the surgery was barely noticeable.

The worst part is that the tinnitus is constantly increasing in volume, for no apparent reason (i am presuming i have further hearing loss that causes the increase). I am at the point that the tinnitus is dilapidating but also the fear of further increases is quite demoralising. Since the experience was not positive i never had the guts to go ahead with the second surgery for my second ear.

I am wondering if reversing (or re-doing) the surgery would be an option to deal with the tinnitus. I assume there are not may people in my situation so really the question is if anyone has ever done a reversal of the surgery or a second one to correct any issues with the first one. Also any good doctors to suggest in UK?

Thanks for your time in advance.
