staphylococcus saprophyticus urinary tract infection?

I have had a chronic problem with this for over three years and have tried treatment numerous times and still have the problem.initially caught from receiving oral sex.

The Doctors have presribed anti biotics but under dosage now it has become more immune and I know it will require a higher dosage it is currently sensitive to three different types of anti-biotics according to the secretion urethral test I had done.

Comments would be appreciated.

I had a UTI was resistant. They gave me 2 IV antibiotics are time for 5 days to kill it. Then a third one in pill form for 10 days after that. The infection can fight one at a time. Cant fight off all 3.

So was it cured? They gave you an IV in the hostpital? For how long? Thanks for your reply and look forward to hearing from you Regards

Yes was cured. IV meds for 5 days. 1 every 8 hours. 1 every 12 hours. Then bactrim for 10 days after that. Was brutal. Stuff was tough on my veins. They had to restart IV every day as they would blow my veins out. Between that and blood work 3 times a day, I was bruised from my elbows down.

Did you have to check into a hospital or clinic for the IV? How severe was your UTI was it the same bacteria that I have staphylococcus saprophyticus? Thanks for your reply and good to know you are better the recent antibiotic I have taken relief symptoms but have not cured it.

I put off using Bactrim due to an allergic reaction to sulfa years ago.

My urologists office is in the hospital. He sent me right to admitting when I got there. Temp was 102.8 and climbing. He took a culture 2 days before. Told me he didn't have to wait for it to finish. He knew it was going staph. He showed up in my room 30 minutes after I was admitted. Said infectious decease specialist would be there soon. He showed up 3 hours later. Added second antibiotic. Besides the high temp, I didn't even know I had a UTI. Figured it had to be one tho. Was only thing I had going on. Was on cipro for 2 weeks prior. But it did nothing. Infection was resistant. I didn't even want to go to docs. I figured temp was from all the cipro. Wife called docs office. Nurse said doc wanted to see me now. Lol

The every 8 hour one was ceftazidime (fortaz) . The every 12 hour one was vancomycin (vancocin) . Then bactrim DS in pills for 10 days after all that. The IV was for 5 days. They took blood twice a day to check the amount of the meds remaining in my blood stream. They upped it after day 1 . Yes was staph. But they also ended up giving me MRSA . Treatment was the same.

They started out saying I would be there 2 days. Then changed to 5. Bad part is 2 days would have been ok with IV. The meds are hard on veins. If they would have known infectious disease doc was gonna keep me 5 days they would have started a picc line. Instructions on vancomycin was to be run in 90 minutes. IV pump won't run that fast. Veins can't take it either. It took 3 and a half hours to run that stuff each time. Night nurses tryed to speed it up. Ran it at 250 ml a hour. Blew my veins out. That hurt.
