Staples taken out after hip replacement

hi everyone
had my staples taken out 2 weeks ago after a full hip op and bled in about 7 different places All scabs have fallen off now except 1 Found it bit more uncomfortable than expected . Not sure if it was the nurse not being very good at it or I was just unlucky.
Was still on apixaban so bled a fair amount . She looked a bit flustered then tried to cover it up and said ,oh you bled less than others . !!
The same nurse took or rather tried to take blood a month previously and bruised me badly so could be down to her .
Have read some other people's blog on staples being taken out and no one else mentioned they bled so just interested .
Quick recovery fellow hippies 😀

I had staples, no bleeding at all - for my hip operation and the revision
.
One nurse was noticably better at removing them than the other - felt like she was pinching me a bit there.

We have a nurse at my surgery like that. She thinks she is the bee's knees. People ask not to see her. She took my blood one time and the bruise was so bad I actually put it in Facebook it was so impressive.

Hey Angel, try to relax, pretty easy to say not so easy to do! Focus on calming yourself if you can. All you have to do is not eat and show up! Trust your doctor, you will be fine. I've had 2 knees and 1 hip replaced and everything is good. It just takes time.

Hi
know where your coming from ,I was due hip op in May ,June, early October then finally they did it mid October. I stressed for months ,then when it came to it I can assure you it was apsolutely fine ,wish I hadn't spent so much time worrying about it . All the staff were lovely and reassuring and I actually enjoyed my 2 days/ nights in hospital .
Is it a full hip op your having, ? Which hospital ?
will be thinking of you ,let us know when you have had it . I am sure you will be pleasantly surprised it really isn't so bad .
Sending best wishes ,and hugs

hi suzie,
staples were removed at 14 days and 10 days post-op by surgeon's assistant - it was fast and no bleeding - 2 scabs remained and fell off within a couple of days - I was on Fragmin for 6 weeks ...
sounds you were unlucky and nurse was not very good ..
how is your scar right now ? closed and dry, I hope ...
big warm hug

yes scar looks like it is healing well thanks , just one little scab and a little tender.
Bit make sure I get another nurse if I need blood or stitches taken out in future. Sounds like I was in the minority ,so put it down to her not being very good at it.
Hugs

yes think it was the nurse ,the one the week before took off the sticky operative plaster and I didn't even realise she had done it . This one was not gentle even doing that.
All ok but will ask for another nurse for any other visits. X

Suziemo:
One week today post-op. Glue and dissolavble stitches were used so there won't anything to take out. I just took off the over large "bandaid" that covered the wound and allowed me to shower the day after surgery (waterproofing). It appears to be healing well with some swelling and slight discoloration but otherwise none the worse for wear.

Oh that's good to hear Erin ,which hospital did you have your operation at ? I had mine in Grantham in Lincolnshire. They obviously do it different in some areas .
Best wishes for a fast recovery

I'm in Columbus, OH. I had my surgery at a ambulatory center that specializes in orthopedic work called OrthopedicOne. It was not done in a hospital which, in some ways, is better because of potential infection risks you find in hospitals is lessened.
