Started a low dose of abilify along w Cymbalta

Posted , 4 users are following.

I take 20 mg of Cymbalta with little to no results, been about five weeks. My doc added 2 mg of abilify four days ago. I’ve been very jittery, heavy, foggy and dizzy head and some sleep issues. Ahhh-is this common start up effects? Will the get better in some time? My doc told me I should feel better in a week and really don’t feel anything yet. I’ll take fifth dose tonight.

Would love to hear from others on this combo.

Thanks!

Abilify did not work for me at all those side effects are way to much. I was on celexa 12 years and it stopped working switched over to 200 MG of Zoloft after I tried abilify after the celexa and i can’t put into words how I felt. This is just my body though. Good luck

What side effects did you have? I’m not feeling great at all. It’s been four days. I feel like I should give it a week. How long did you try it?

I just tried Abilify and I couldn't tolerate the side effects. I already have bad anxiety and it seemed to make it worse. I couldn't sleep, very restless. My back hurt very bad and I had a hard time urinating. I am trying Vraylar now, I've took my first dose and I've felt jittery again. I hope this side effect subsides.

I too have bad anxiety. What is vraylar? I hate the jittery feeling!! I’m really hoping it goes away. I think I’m more freaked by sleeplessness right now. How long were you on it and how much did you take?

I wasnt on it long. Maybe a week, I just couldn't take the side effects. I wish you the best of luck though.

Yah I guess I’ll see how it goes. Gonna give it a week.

Abilify is prescribed for those suffering from bi-polar disorder or Schizophrenia. Is that your condition?

No-at low dose it can be used as an add on to SSRI or snri to boost it. I have anxiety.

Low dose a typical antisychotics can be used in conjunction with SSRIs to receive a better effect. I was on abilify for 1 1/2 weeks then I discontinued said hell with these antipsychotics and went to Zoloft 200MG. Feel amazing otherwise. But I am diagnosed with GAD, OCD and Bipolar Disorder, but very minimal bipolar.

I was on Zoloft 150 after I had my daughter and it really seemed to help but tried it again and didn’t help. So frustrating. My main issue is anxiety, can’t seem to find the right med. everything makes me jittery or more anxious.

The SSRI's always worked well for my depression, a little less so for anxiety. I've been on Paxil for over 25 years, recently increased the dosage from 20 mg/day to 30 mg/day because my system had gotten used to it after that long and I had some stressful issues in the last year. Never had to use another drug to 'amplify' the Paxil.

Yeah I’m not sure it’s really helping to be honest.  Been five days, I’m also on Cymbalta at 20 mg. I can’t tolerate higher doses of meds so that’s why doc added 2 mg. I don’t know?? I really have postpartum anxiety and can’t seem to find relief.

Give it a few days and see what happens, mere. Postpartum depression is really a difficult issue for you new mothers. My niece had very bad postpartum after her 3rd child, she was nearly suicidal. They put her on SSRI meds (I'm not sure which one) and it helped her quite a bit.

I wish you the very best. Hang in there!

      Thank you!

Yah-it’s terrible. I was on Zoloft before and really helped and this time-nadda. Hoping I feel better and it’s temporary and can eventually get off abilify, etc. glad your niece is feeling better. It’s scary how hormones can affect women!!!

Yup, you ladies fight some really tough battles with hormones. We men need to appreciate that  more.

But, you WILL feel better. My niece is back to her usual obnoxious self and she had deep depression after her 3rd child. You'll feel better as well, give it time.

      Tell me about it!!

Thanks. I’m hoping things are on the up and up. I think abilify is helping but scares me to take this heavy duty med, I think it would only be semi short term though and stay w Cymbalta longer. Glad your niece is doing better!!
