Started arorvastin 2 weeks ago....side effects!

Hi, as above, been on them 2 weeks and until last night had been fine... It started out as feeling a bit dizzy, I initially put it down to tiredness, however, visual disturbances began, like when a tv just shows an untuned channel, just fuzz...

I started to feel sick and stumbled to the bathroom, I was sweating like I'd just run a marathon.

Within a few minutes it had all passed, apart from a slight fuzz to the pheripheral vision of my left eye.

Has anyone experienced similar, was it due to tiredness or is it unrelated?

I would see my doctor about this as a matter of some urgency as I don't think it is related to the statin.

Hello Crudge, i had a similar experience and it will get worse ! I ended up getting serious bouts of vertigo and nausea. The dizziness will get worse. Also getting off the stuff was difficult as the dizziness made me break out in sweats and throw up. It took me 7 months to figure out that it was the statin ! After seeing numerous doctors and Ent specialists. They all told me it wasn't related.

All the side effects went away after being off the statin for two weeks. Statins were poison to my system. Stop the statin and it will all go away !

Google statins and dizziness/vertigo/nausea and you will see all the complaints.

    Good luck.

I have to agree with William.  Sorry for all those who disagree but statins are pure poison.  They are toxic.  I suffered horrendous side effects, most noticeably chronic muscle pain and found out much too late that some of the damage is permanent.  Ditch them down the drain and go back to your doctor and demand alternative treatment.  Sorry but statins are dangerous for everyone and there are better ways to reduce cholesterol.

Hi crudge, I have been on Lipitor for about 15 months now, started on 80mg and two months ago the cardiologist dropped this to 40mg. I have been to A and E on a few occassions thinking I was having another heart attack, dizziness, numbness in arms, blurred vision, chest discomfort and general confussion at times, I am pretty sure this is down to the Lipitor. I could sleep at the drop of a hat and my legs, especially, feel like lead weights.
