I am in perimenopause still producing some estrogen myself. Gp started me on everol patch for night sweats. Insomnia, and low mood. Can anyone tell me how long before see improvement? And has anyone suffered anxiety when starting them and does this improve?

Hi Meg. I would say: best results by adding some natural progesterone. You know what science now says: it's your oestrogens it's your progesterone! That is most of PeriM symptoms would come from oestrogen dominance. So, some bioidentical progesterone should be recommended. I find Cemcor’s info. site very useful.

I haven't had hysterectomy but I take both for Menopause symptoms (oestrogen gel and oral micronized progesterone in cyclic fashion). I suggested the combination to my OBGyn and he agreed. I've tried the patches at first but they didn't stick to my skin so I've switched to oestrogen gel, which works fine. I have a friend that has had hysterectomy and she does have them both as well as they need to be in balance for most women to feel well. When I mean “progesterone” it’s not medroxyprogesterone or any other sort of artificial “progestogen” med. There’ oral (bioidentical) progesterone in the UK it’s Utrogestan and in gel/cream form is Crinone.
Oestrogen will take anywhere from 2 weeks to 2 months to for you to feel some improvements. In my case by the end of week #2 I get many symptoms of “oestrogen dominance”. I then start the progesterone (from day 14 or 16) which makes an enormous difference in annulling the oestrogen excess and translates in to more relaxation, better sleep, diminished breast tenderness, etc. XX

Most GPs just hate prescribing hormones now because of WHI report and the proven awful effects medroxyprogesterone and other artificial hormones. But plain progesterone seems to have many beneficial effects. Dr. Jerilynn Prior from Cemcor endorses it’s benefits and safety.
