Started exercising after open myomectomy, incision twitches

hello ladies

I had an open myomectomy 11 weeks ago, I started doing some exercises last week(week 10).

since gyms are closed, my gym instructor posts YouTube vids 2 to 3 times a week(can't do consecutive days yet).

I do her move class(similar to aerobics) and pilates.

I am taking is easy, there are some things i can't do yet such as squatting really low so i do what i can and what's not painful. it's been tons of fun being active again 😃

i have found since exercising, my incision becomes irritated: it itches or gets uncomfortable.

in the evenings, I notice that my incision becomes red(whether I exercise or not), wondering if this is normal?

    Hey,

You may have to slow down a little with the exercises! It could simply just be part of the healing process, however it could also indicate irritation to the incision and a possible infection. I would stick to non-complicated stretches (pilates) for the next few weeks. Just monitor your incision and ensure that it is not hot to touch, oozing or smelling as these are definite signs of infection. If you do notice this, then you must contact your doctor straight away.

    Hope this helps......

    Good luck! 😃

thank you so much for taking the time to reply.

I have since stopped, starting last week and was down for a week with cramps and tenderness so I've stopped now.

I really need to slow down, I'm one who finds it difficult to just relax but I certainly need to.

I will watch out for redness and oozing as you suggested, thank you once again
