Started having urine problems yesterday? Strange smell and foamy?

Hello, i'm an 18 year old male and yesterday I started noticing unusual characteristics in my urine. It is a normal yellow colour like in the mornings, but is very bubbly/foamy and also has a very strong smell.

The smell is hard to describe, but rather chemical like, unpleasant and strong.

I have been drinking plenty like I ususaly do and have not eaten anything unusual. I have never had this problem before but it is persisting today.

Is it too early to be alarmed? Should I go and see a doctor if I still have it tomorrow? I don't have any other symptoms as of yet, just the funny urine. Thanks.

    Hello Andrew I think a lot of things can effect the colour and texture of urine as silly as it sounds there could of been something in the loo making your urine go bubbly or foaming I went once and forgot I had put bleach down the toilet and the colour it went frightened the life out me but one way to to see is is do your wee in a pot or something and see what it's like then if it's still the same then go to your doctor just to put your mind at rest but don't worry everybody's urine changes all the time .

    It sounds like you may have  a bladder infection, I think you should definitely see your doctor ASAP, to prevent it getting worse.

    I generally know when I have one by the horrible smell, and my urine goes frothy too.  As a woman, if I leave it I could get cystitis and that is horribly painful when you pee.  I suppose it may be possible for men to get it, but it is more usual for w woman.

    The last time, I hadn't drunk enough water and had drunk quite a lot of alcohol.  Cranberry juice, lemon barley and drinking lots of water do help though, bt I'd definitely go to the doctor.

    Good luck.

    Hi Andrew I had 4 water infections having had a Catheter in for 2 months You can usually tell Smell can be one of them but there is usually a burning sensation I had quite a bit of a white sediment as well as being cloudy these are the usual signs of a water infection Antibiotics from the doc should clear it up but as was suggested before Cranberry Juice and Lemon Barley Water should help You could also check it tourself by getting a sample jar from the Surgery and check for any sediment or cloudiness

    Hi Andrew

    It sounds like as if you may have a water infection. You might want to see your doctor as soon as possible. But in the meantime drink plenty of fluids to help flush out your system.

    Hey thanks for your answers. I went to to the walk-in centre and they took a urine sample, which came back negeative. However these problems are still persisting. What could it be as it apparently isn't a urine infection. My symptoms are still the same and haven't got any worse. I am now drinking more than usual as advised, and trying the cranberry juice, as well as avoiding tea, coffee and fizzy drinks.

    There is a couple of things that could cause these problems that does not show that you have an infection and these are as follows;

    1) High proteins in your urine.

    2) Kidney or Liver disorder.

    3) diabetes.

    4) Retrograde ejaculation - this is where some of the sperm ejaculated has traveled back up the urethra and into the bladder.

    If I think of others I will let you know.
