Started on 10mg 5 weeks ago - increased to 20mg 2 days ago, need some answers.

When I first started on 10mg about 5 weeks ago, I felt minimum side effects and seemed to work within a couple of days, i started to feel good. A few days ago while on 10mg, I felt like they had stopped working and all of my anxiety came back. I talked to my doctor and she recommended trying 20mg. I've been on them for 2 days and I feel great again with minimal side effects. i've been doing some research on antidepressants and I found that if you feel better right away that is a bad sign and it isn't working properly. Is citalopram not working properly for me, and also will the same crash I had on 10mg come back while I'm on 20mg?

Thank you!

it's hard to tell because some people do feel good right away only to crash again and some people feel good then worse again and then better again.

it all depends how long you felt good on them for before you crashed.

it could also be a bit of a placebo effect I get it for a few days when changing dose or new meds because i know I'm trying to male myself better if that makes sense x

how long were you on 10mg for before you felt worse again?

mine was the other way around started on 20 now successfully staying on 10 mg

I still have blips but can manage a lot better now it takes at least 12 weeks for it all to settle x settle on 20mg then if u feel u can go down to 15 or 10 do so after

try not to think about it too much i know thats easier said than done . it will all settle down eventually just be patient

      Hi Michelle,

Please could I ask why/when you reduced? (e.g. were you feeling better or suffering too many side effects?)

      Thanks 😃
