Hi all so I've finally went to the doctors this morning to talk about my anxiety and she was very helpful and prescribed me with sertraline (50mg) I'm just curious to hear if people have had positive outcomes from this? Look forward to hearing from anyone that is or has been on it.

SSRI's and their affect are entirely based on the individual taking them. What works for one will not necessarily work for another.

If you have any concerns, experience any side effects or feel they are not working for ou, the only person who can guide ou is your GP. It is imperative that you and your doctor maintain good communication whilst starting on any SSRI. They do not work for everyone and even for those who do feel the anxiety is lessened, anxiety is always best managed through counselling.

Hi Paul, I'm glad you have a supportive doctor. How long have you been suffering from anxiety? I'm currently on sertaline 50mg, been on it for 24days so still at the beginning and my doctor told me I'd feel worse before I felt better which is true, you need to give the medication time to work which can take a few weeks but everyone is different. You may suffer with side effects or you maybe one of the lucky ones and not have any but it's the chance you take. I was scared to take it so halved my dose and took 25mg for 6days then upped it to 50mg which I'm currently on but due to up it tomorrow. In that time I've had some not pleasant side effects which have started to ease abit now but the heightened anxiety and low mood where the worse. I had a few good days last week and one today so I know it's doing it's job just got to be patient and willing to take one day at a time but on a plus note, I was on sertaline a few years ago for anxiety and panic attacks and it really helped me then and I got through it and come off them and didn't really have any attacks again until my anxiety resurfaced in September but that is due to personal circumstances at the moment so I know what my trigger is. I wish you well and if you want to talk I'm here. This forum has been a life saver for me, your not alone, stay strong you will get through it! Michelle xx

      Hi Paul

Many years ago I went through a total " break down". My Dr. At the time put me on Zoloft. It took awhile but it did save my life. You have to give it time though and do good things for yourself. I know you will see a change. Good luck to you.
