Started physio four weeks after Orif

My physio told me that we all heal at different speeds.

I'm 42. Regular-ish gym goer, did cardio and weights, had vitamins every day, orange juice and regularly ate meat and poultry.

Six weeks ago I fractured my talus in the ankle, plus tendons and ligaments etc

I had Orif surgery four weeks ago - five screws plus long sydesmosis screw.

I wore a cast for two weeks then was put in a boot after surgery and ditched the bandages when the stitches came out.

I still use crutches but have been wearing both trainers for a few days now when I go out. I put partial weight on my operated foot and it causes me no problems. My swelling has reduced a lot although it swelled after my first physio session - although that has dissipated after a bath and then ice.

Essentially, what I'm saying is go by what the consultant says but also trust your own health and body. Eat as much good nutrients as you can in the early stages because healing needs a ton of energy. When you can tolerate - a few days after the stitches are removed and healed at the earliest - have a bath. Also try to do non-weight bearing exercises from YouTube. It will get the blood flowing.

The first physio session was partly painful and caused swelling but my range of movement in my ankle, which was pretty much zero, is now about 20%. But you have to do daily exercises as instructed by the physio.

I will have a procedure to remove my long screw in three weeks.
