hi, im new to the group. i started getting anxiety, weekness, dizzyness from 2 months. i think it started when i changed to a new job abroad. it kicked in month before that as i kept thinking about it as i had free time for month as i quit last job month earlier. i didnt take meds then as doc sugg it will go once i settle in job but sadly i didnt. so started taking 50 mg tabs. i felt relieved after seeing all the post and support in this web page. as i am frustrated with it.

i know diff people experience diff symptoms. mine is bit odd i feel. i have dwoziness all day. tired, weak and mentally off all day but sleep lik a baby full 9-10 hrs still cant help myself thinking abt it. i think everyday this will be better but sadly not. i am experiencing shakyness in hands after taking meds. is it because of that ?

and cant help myself to think how long it will stay as i am planning to getting marr next year .... plz suggest .

    Hi,

How long have you been on the 50mg? The shakiness and tiredness are quite common side effects but the wooziness all day doesn't sound right. Sleep is often affected too, either disrupted or excessive. It sounds as if you are getting good quality sleep but probably longer than you used to, which might be affecting your working day. How is the new job going? Have you got friends to support you? It did take about 8 weeks before my head cleared (and I increased to 100mg halfway through). As long as I get some fresh air and a bit of exercise each day, I am still clear-headed. Has anything else in your lifestyle changed? Who is your medical professional now that you are abroad? Will you be able to get an appointment to discuss these side effects with them?

Try to stay positive and focus on something good in your life (like your forthcoming wedding!). I hope things will soon start to improve. Keep us informed as you will find a lot of good support here :-)

    Best wishes, Digsby x

      Hi,

Thanks so much for your response. I've been on meds for 3 weeks. And drowsyness started before I started taking meds.

I keep yawning and my eye strain a lot as if I can't open them. Now I think I shouldn't have taken break of one month as all I did was sleep and worry abt coming abroad. I will meet my Gp again . he insisted not to go psychiatrist as he will send me back to him only.

New job is boring for now but will pick in few weeks.I am making friends now here.but I am not getting when all this will end.

Have u been feeling gud after daily works out.

      Hi,

It's good that you are socialising and able to make new friends. I've tried really hard not to isolate myself from the people around me. Exercise is definitely helping me - it doesn't have to be a lot, and if you can get motivated with other friends, it might make it easier to reach your goals.

It sounds like your underlying health issues which started before the medication, are not necessarily made worse by the Sertraline - it may take a few more weeks to feel the benefit. It's easy to feel anxious about our physical symptoms but this sometimes turns into a vicious cycle and we feel worse. Talk it through with your GP when you see him/her next.

In the meantime, I hope you can find some positive things about your job until the boredom wears off. Try something to make it interesting that will help pass the work day. If nothing else works, think of the money you are saving towards your married life :-)

Take each day as it comes. I hope you start to feel better soon.

      Love & best wishes. xx

Hi! I read your discussions with Digsby and there is great advice here that I cannot add much to.

However, my gut instinct when you described sleeping well but drowsy all day, is to ask if you have had a complete check up with your GP. For instance, is there something wrong with your thyroid? What about mononucleosis or it's cousin Epstein Barr Virus Syndrome? What about allergies? Infections? What about your diet? Are you giving yourself plenty of exercise? Do you drink plenty of water? And your pending upcoming marriage, that can be excitingly stressful.

I am more inclined to think that there is something underlying wrong, and it is at least worth checking into.

Do take your Sertraline faithfully because brain medications are hefty and can mess with you if you are on and off them I think your anxiety is natural with all the new exciting major events in your life.

Wish the best for you and stay in touch so we know how you are getting along.
