Started with globes 2 weeks ago and getting worse

It first stared when I got a nut stuck in my throat about 6 months ago. I was fine after and recovered well. Then 2 weeks ago I got a sweet stuck in my throat and I had a massive panic attack. I have never had one in my life so it was awful. Since then I have been admitted to hospital 3 times with chest pain, pain in my oesophagus and not been able to eat at all. If I try and eat I feel like I am choking to death and I am going to die which then leads to another panic attack. I have seen ENT twice and they said its all in my head. I am having a gastroscopy and barium swallow next week which I am not looking foward to. I have lost 1 stone in weight in 2 weeks. I have tried everything including PPIs and they have put me on antidepressants even though I am not depressed. Please can anyone help. I have even tried the breathing and stretching without much help. Mine seems to be really bad all the time but worse from 4pm onwards.

Hi Jacqueline, I've been suffering since June this year. It all started after a virus. But symptoms I've had are feeling something's stuck in my throat like a lump. I can't swallow very well not even my own saliva. Breathing can be difficult at times. I can't clear my throat at all & permantantly have mucas in back if my throat. Evening & mornings are the worst but attacked come on anytime. I do think it's related to stress but also heard a few people suffer with their voices & throats through the menopause? It's not nice & I can totally sympathise with you. I too panic at times & feel I can't pass food down properly.

Thank you for your reply. I am going to try CBT to see if that helps but I am not sure it will. Have you or anyone else tried it. I also feel like no one wants to help. I just got told to go away and eat!. I would love to do that. Food was my own vice in life. I don't drink or smoke but I love food. And now I can't go anywhere near it. Its such a horrible feeling.

Dont worry I hadn't heard of it either until recently. its cognitive behavioural therapy. You can pay to have it private or NHS or get books on it and teach it to yourself.

Could the dryness be from snoring? That's what my dr told me. Are you a mouth breather?

I would say that I'm glad to here someone else has the dry throat. This is what seems to be getting to me the most, I'm always drinking and then always on the loo! Also suffering with hay fever I never know what I'm treating. I feel your plain, I've suffered with it for 2 years and it is getting me down, all from swallowing a tiny piece of cello tape. I have a cold at the moment and the whole thing is amplified so much more, depression I never have had but just can't pick myself up from this. I wish there was a specialist in this area that had answers for us all. ????
