Started Zoloft

Hi, I'm on day 9 of Zoloft. Started at 12.5mg first four days, now 25mg. I still have dreadful nausea from about 5am-9am. How long will this last? I take my tablet around 9am, so it's not directly related to when I take it. I need some encouragement to push on with it, the nausea is debilitating.

Make sure an eat good b4 you take your pill. I would suggest a light snack right b4 bed, like yogurt. Or saltine crackers. So something maybe in stomach to help with acid. Or ask pharmacy if ok if you take antiacid rt b4 bed. You must be waking with alot of acid on the stomach. How long do you wait till you eat breakfast fr getting up? Can you take pill earlier than 9am? This is typical od Zoloft or Sertraline. I was shaky upon waking an would immediately eat saltine cracker or 2 as soon as I woke. I had some nausea to. It made me NOT want to eat. I developed anorexia(not eating. Not the eating disorder). I got down to 118lbs in 2 months an Im 5"3. I forced myself to eat SOMETHING in morning an ate bigger lunch. I also had bowel "issues" bad. Immodium helped that. Its just side effects that hopefully will go away in couple wks or up to 4 wks. Goodluck!

I could try having breakfast when I get up (around 630am) & take the tablet then. I'm only 120lbs now (5ft 3" also!) and also recovering from laparoscopic surgery ten days ago, so have zero appetite. I will chat to pharmacist also, thanks for your reply 🙂

Ha! I took Zoloft for 2 an half months. I had severe side effects an ended up not being able to take it unfortunately. It was def helping me mentally! I mean I was happy again, my old self like 10 yrs ago! Energy an WANTING to do stuff. But phy8I was soooo sick for the whole time an kept getting worse. The major flu body pain was the last straw. I was also having liver area pain kinda where gallbladder is! So ended up having to have gallbladder out 5 months later! Iv been on 8 med's an all physical side effects . I know there are side effects to each antidepressant but after 5-6 wks they were so bad it was like torture. Not all people experience this. So Im not on anything rt now. Withdrawing fr Effexor. Took it 5 an half wks. Same thing. Wide spread body pain I couldn't handle. I have fibromyalgia also. I may try Zoloft or Sertraline again since gallbladder gone. Maybe it wont make me so sick. Im just very sensitive to meds!

I was the same for a start , I took mine at night , I still felt sick in the morning and sometimes was sick ,and on the loo, but it all charmed down and you will be the same . Just give it a couple of weeks to settle in your system. I didn't worry about eating just eat when your hungry. Take care.

Are you friends saying that it would be the same with Sert? I take mine (11th day) in the morning but I feel nauseaus every morning and often during the later day. I'm taking Lansoprazole 15mg mornings and evenings at least 30 minutes before eating anything and they help the Reflux but not the nausea. My Doc told me to do about 30 minutes vigourous excercise daily when I started Sert and that sometimes helps get me feeling a bit hungry if I walk before lunch time, otherwise it is a not very comfortable way of losing some weight.

    Thanks.

Thank you for your reply. Has the nausea decreased at all for you? (You're 2 days ahead of me, I'm hopeful!)

I can't exercise as I'm recovering from recent surgery & don't have any weight to lose. I'm hoping the nausea subsides soon & I get my appetite back.

Yes it has but I have no real appetite. However I have other dietry issues (Gluten intolerance for example) and that has a big affect. I use something called Pepti Calm (Boots) and alsthough it is a little weird to take it really helps. I'm just a bit fed up with having to take something to counteract the effects of something I have altready taken and ending up taking about six tablets.....,pah!
