Good morning Suzanne, I've had prednisone quiet alot over the years, when I first took it I found it really good, got loads of energy, and it really helped with the flare, I've even had iv ones aswell, but my body now really really hates it but like I said I've had it easy double figures thought out my 10 years with ulcerative colitus, I even had to take it for 6 months throughtout my pregnancy, yes the side affects are awful but it really really helps bring the flare under control, make sure you drink loads of water aswell while on them, good luck x

When i first took them I had alot of energy, use to be hungry alot and use to sleep less, I know that sounds bad but it stopped me flaring and you reduce them every week right? From experience if you can try and take 10mins a day to relax and also I found taking them first thing in morning helped me when I wanted to sleep at night, hope this helps any questions feel free to ask Suzanne x

HI suzanne, ive had prednisalone on two occasions and it does help to reduce a flare up. Just follow the instructions to the letter. So long as you are not on this med too long or too often, side effects are minimal. Unfortunately after 7 years of UC I have been on most meds including mesalazine. You just have to find out what works best for you. A horrible disease! I wish you well.
