Starting Citalopram.

Posted , 6 users are following.

Hello, I am in dire need of some encouragement (again). Have been staring at the box of prescribed Citalopram for 6 days. Too anxious to even get started. Please push me, and remind me that I will survive this. So good to read success stories, knowing that with time I will be feeling so much better. wink

Hi Lee. I too have just started citolapram I'm going on 3 weeks of 10 mg but slowly getting use to that dose, started on 5 mg for 5 weeks. Tired a lot, the anxiety was there but much better now. Takes a little time but too each person responds differently remember that. Good luck and this website is a good one to chat if you need too.

I am starting Citalopram as well. I am not really that scared of side effects at all, as I am used to them from tricyclic antidepressants which didn't work for me, I am just scared that it won't help. Citalopram is basically my last hope at this point. Let's hope for the best.

hi there you were precribed citalopram for a reason,if you had started them 6 days ago you wouldnt be as anxious as you are now. I felt the same in 2012 when i first went onto 20mg but i thought im going to beat this and took the 1st tablet the day after they were prescribed and within 6 weeks i felt better unfortunately i was on them for 2 years due to circumstances, started to wean of in july 14 when circumstances took a turn for the worse at work and my doctor put me back on them 30mg then 40mg, im now taking ventalaxine 150mg, i encourage you to take the first one and that will help you to feel that much better in a short while so heres is A BIG PUSH you will survive and get better, go on and good luck .

Hi Lee, If you are suffering then you should start to take them. You will probably have a rough few weeks, no ones going to deny that, but just keep reminding yourself that it's just your body adjusting and it will get better soon. Honestly it will be worth it in the long run. I'm on week 5 and everything is so much more managable for me now. I was spiralling into absolute chaos before I started to take them. I've got my life back now. And know you can always come on here to get reassurance that what your feeling is normal in the first few weeks. Hope it goes well for you x

Hello there lee. Be strong. You have already had the courage to go to your doctor. Time to take the next step and start your meds. I've been on mine 20 days now. I won't pretend it's been all plain sailing, like you I realised I needed help, and got myself to the doctor.

Be strong, and there is loads of support on here.

    Good luck fella.
