Starting detox did not happen!!!

Well guys was supposed to start my detox today. Went to the recovery centre, saw the nurse, blood pressure sky high again so they will not go ahead with it. Managed to speak to my GP about it and she has arranged for me to have an ambulatory blood pressure test. So the detox is on hold again. Best thing was I took 'him' with me and the nurse told him in no uncertain terms that I just cannot stop drinking and I have to be allowed 20 units a day until the detox can go ahead. He wasn't happy about it and she saw that, but he has no choice. Makes me slightly more empowered. He wanted to come with me so that's how it is. At least he's heard from a health professional. I really hope it has sunk in with him this time!!!

This is really the stupidist thing I have ever heard numpty.
Why? Why can't you start detox?
Is it because you currently drink more than 20 units a day? And they want to reduce your consumption for possible lesser withdrawal dangers?
I was drinking for many years...way more than 20 units and when I was READY to be detoxed..the hospital detoxed me .
I'm sorry you are still having to hang on.

I hope you don't think I was "yelling" at you..saying it was the stupidist thing I ever heard.
I was expressing anger toward them.

No that's okay Misssy. I realised that. I'm so frustrated with it all. Back to the recovery centre in the morning to find out if the detox can go ahead x

With your bp being sky high, I would imagine they would not start you on the detox. My bp is always high at the docs (high anyway) but at alcoholl counselling, it would go off the scale due to sheer nerves.
When you start to detox your bp goes up and that is the last thing you want when it is already sky high. Do you take bp meds at all? If it is that high, it will need to come down somewhat. There is a way out and you have now started your journey and we are all routing for you here.
Well done for starting your journey to a better life.........G x
