Starting on Pregabalin ~ Mild headache on day #1 ~ 25mg ~ Normal?

Hi folks!

I have been suffering from chronic pain on fingers and toes, getting worse year after year. After many tests and "finding nothing" finally my doctor diagnosed it as a neuropathic pain and prescribed me with Lyrica. She told me to just take 1 pill at night of 25 mg for the first week, the 50 the second week and 75 the third, and stay in 75 to evaluate how I am doing.

I do never have headaches, but I have been having today a mild headache all day. Is this normal? I do not take other medications, just this one. How long should I expect this. I have both excitement and fear regarding to this, excitement because my life will improve a lot without my constant pain, but fear because Lyrica is no joke and there are so many horror stories. What are your thoughts related to this?

If you're only problem is a headache you were in good shape. This will not last long but varies from person to person. The biggest horror story with this drug is discontinuation. This can be abated by taking naltrexone 50 mg A day during withdrawal. Balance is a large issue with this drug Headache is a fairly minor problem.

Thanks @Nowell smile Today is my second day (third pill tonight) and did not have my head bothering me at all. In about 6 weeks I am going on vacation to a nice hotel and we are going to be drinking some champagne and wine. I know alcohol is a big no-no with Lyrica, but then again, it is up to each individual. I am a wine enthusiast and I do not drink till I am drunk, maybe half bottle with a meal with my wife, so I hope I am fine. Right now is hard to tell as I am getting adjusted to the drug, but probably in five weeks or so (I will be at my normal initial dose, 75mg pill, one a day (at night) will drink a glass or two of wine and see what happens. Wine is a good part of my life smile

I will keep you guys posted in how this goes. I believe that due my pain I am going to be on Lyrica for the rest of my life (I am 32) so I hope we can be good friends.

Hi Percy ..cAn I ask you how you are getting on with the Pregabalin? I have also been on it for about 3 weeks now 25 gms at night. Bit dubious about increasing the dosage as I'm wondering if twice the dosage mean twice the side effects! I've had no real pain relief ,but a real uplift in mood even at 25 gms...which is certainly worth something.
