HI I have just stumbled onto this website and can't tell you what a relief it is to discover I'm not alone. I have suffered with anxiety and panic attacks on and off all my adult life depression usually comes at the same time. My GP has just prescribed sertraline. I havent started taking them yet. Some of the side effects sound terrifying I hope they are worth it. Does anyone have an opinion on the best time of day to take them.

Hi I know the side effects sound awful but you may have only a few or none at all. All I can say is, it will be worth it. I have been on Sertraline for 4 months now and have no side effects at all. However in the first few weeks I did, the side effects do wear off, dont expect to much to soon as Sertraline can take up to a month to 6 weeks to start working, but please be patient and work with it,the results will be amazing,I had very bad anxiety and depression over Christmas and well into the new year,I was of work for 7 months, I tryed to get my self better but by easter was still in a bit of a state.I was put on Sertraline in April, and from not being able to do anything ,and I mean anything I am now back at work full time living a near on normal life. Sertraline is well worth any side effects you may get,my g.p. told me to take them in the morning as they can effect your sleep paterne tempory. However your g.p. will have told you when to take your medication. Dont mess around on it take it everyday about the same time. By the way to mix Sertraline with alcohol is not advisable however there are alcohol free wines and lagers which are safe.Alcohol free is 0.05 anything higher is not. Hope this has helped and I hope you feel better soon. LUCKY.

I'm interested to know just how you stumbled upon the site? Maybe we could improve ways in which people can find the site?

Hi mateema I'm pleased my story gave you some hope, this medication will work for you, just think how great you will feel in a few weeks time when you feel a lot different to what you do now. Mateema you must stay very positive, think positive thoughts only, dont dwell on negative things, and with the med you will start to feel better. I never thought in a million years I would be well enought to go on holiday, but I am, and Im going away for two weeks. So you see you will be the same, being able to enjoy life and do things with your family. Keep in touch. Lucky.

HI...iv been on sertraline for nearly 4 months and i feel fantastic. i got put on them for bad PMT/anxiety and low moods. The first 2 months nothing happened but side affects like waking at night...bad insomnia...loss of appetite and sens skin to sunlight. Also felt more anxious and tight chested. Went back to gp and he double my dose to 100mg per day, tis sorted me out within days. After a month i went back to 50mg again and ive been fine. All i can say is stick at it, plough thru the rough times and see yr gp for extra if yr struggling until it gets in yr system. Blv me , once its in (for me was about 3months to feel proper benefits.), u will feel great. im more outgoing, more energy, confident , laughing , socialble etc..

the only thing i found worrying was that i lost interest in everything i liked to do b4 and gained interest in everything i didnt? ...i did change my personality a bit. Which i worry cos i think, wot will i be like without them.

    good luck
