Starting sertraline - feel like hell

Posted , 5 users are following.

So on Saturday, after much anxiety about trying a new med and switching from Mirtazapine, I started taking Sertraline 50mg. first day nothing remarkable happened, couldn't fall asleep for hours though. yesterday I felt generally okay and made it through work. my appetite has been reduced in general but today it's not just not hungry, I feel sick to the stomach and really can't eat without wanting to spew. Stomach feels really strange, kind of bloated/knotted? and yeah this feels like absolute hell. is this normal? nausea doesn't bode well with my anxiety issues and I don't think I can hack this for much longer. experience/advice please?

I know just how you feel I could only suffer it for 4 days then when I came off it I had another 3 days of it.

today is the 4th day of and the firdt day I have not woke up feeling sick.

I am also taking propranolol 100mg but still getting anxiety and panic attacks but not as bad.

they say setraline helps once in your  system but that takes a few weeks.

when I started on the meds I was at the doctors every day.

If you just want to talk to someone pm me.

    hope you get on ok

    Hey Danny07958

I was on 200 mg of Sertaline for 6 months to help with my Anxiety and Severe OCD. The first 3-6 weeks were pretty rough. Weeks 2 and 3 I felt like hell, just as you describe but believe me it does pass! Once I had resolved to weathering the storm of the initial side-effects, they started to fade. I would wake up somedays with the biggest smile on my face and all day I would be saying to myself, 'this is me, exactly how I want to be and it's awesome!' So stick in there danny! Side effects by nature fade and on the other side of that storm there could be an island paradise waiting for you, But if you quit now you'll never know!
