I stopped taking Zoloft for 1 month after I was taking it for 3 months, the reason I stopped it because it gave me really bad heart palpitations in the morning I woke up, now after stopping it, I feel my anxiety has come back 10 times worse than it was, constant bad thoughts, just wanted to know will I have the start up symtops again or will I get the heart palpitations, not sure if this is the right drug for me

Everyone is different. I would give it another go. I was a wreck until I reached 100mg. Heart palpitations are horrid but it's probably anxiety. When you reach your dose they will stop. Speak to your doctor. Get your heart checked. Have some blood tests especially for vit D deficiency. Increase slowly at 25mg each time. This is a slow acting drug which has saved my life

    Good luck

Hi i know exactly how you feel because i was in the same boat except for i became ill on the drugs, but the moment i stopped them the depression and anxiety came back , i got so confused was not sure what to do, i spoke to my doctor, he said i should stick with the drugs as i have not given them time , after 3 months i could not lift my head off the pillow i knew it was the drugs, in my heart i knew i had to stop, but knowing i had to sort my depression out he suggested an alternative medicine, things that cause my depression and anxiety,  the root cause, i am now on the top of the list for counselling, i take valerian, and all drink herbal teas , ones that calm you, but i would talk tour doctor first because everyone is different , find out what is best for you, hope this helps and good luck

Hi, I have been on sertrlaine for 12 weeks and initially I had increased heart palpitations, on one occasion they lasted literally 24 hours, but after about 6-8 weeks they settled down. I am currently weaning myself off them as they do not agree with my stomach, constantly running to the loo 4/5 times a day. Im now at 25mg for 3 weeks and no running to the loo anymore, however, the withdrawl effects I am experiencing are quite rough. Insomnia, painful headaches and fatigue but there is light at the end of the tunnel we just have to work through them. I will reduce to 12.5 mg at the end of this week and maintain at that for a couple of weeks and then possuibly stop them altogether. There are other antidepressants available if you dont think this is suiting you, but things get worse intially before they get better. Speak to your GP and take his advice as to whether you should try another one. Good luck
