Hi I am on atorvastatin and haven't seen any major problems but I have only been on them 6 months after being swapped from simvastatin due to aches and pains.

Have you any other health problems that could be causing these symptoms.

I'm not saying its not statins or it is, I don't know, you could probably take a supplement to counteract the statins, best to ask your GP regarding that.

What was your cholesterol when you were diagnosed and where there any other health issues to suggest you needed them.

Statins deplete CoQ10, so be sure and supplement yourself on that.

I had deep muscle spasms/cramps after a few days on Simvastatin.Researched statins was horrified and came off them. You are now having the problem after 2/3 years so I suggest you take CQ10 daily and Magnesium. Research the side effects of Atorvastatin.

YHou do have th right to refuse statin; to me, they are 'the devils' drug'. NHS uk IS being duped into thinking that they may prevent strokes and heart attacks; but, the proof for that is no really there. Statins, to many, are a 'moneyspinner' for the drug proviing business, sadly.
