    High cholesterol favors inflammation.

Some patients need to take statins besides following the recommended diet and exercises.

It does not replace Pred though.

    Stay well 😊

Yes it is now known that statins are powerful anti-inflammatories.  I read a clinical trial of RA patients and it was quite helpful.  That may be one reason statins help prevent heart disease.   They are also known to help all kinds of breathing issues.

Some people do not tolerate them, but most people do.  Bad side effects are very very rare.

I take statins, just diet does not help my cholesterol.

As I need it I am glad I tolerate it well.

I should say that the side effect rabdomyolitis is extremely rare;  the most common side effect is pain in the major muscles like the leg and thigh, so it is different from PMR muscle problems.  Anyway, statins are certainly helping my PMR which, as I said, went to my lungs.  I was on oxygen as a result last year, but I am much better now.

My dentist was telling me today the 5 things that help you live a long life: take a baby asperin, take statins, floss your teeth, and I forget the other two.
