Stay on, or get off the Zoloft

Hey all, I've been reading some of these comments on this blog and trying to figure out what to do, about whether to stay on Zoloft or go off it. I have been on various and antidepressants through the years they've all been SSRI s. I've been on Wellbutrin the longest, over ten years. I was on Cymbalta as well, for about six of those years. Got off that (horrible withdrawals that took months to get over) about a year ago. I was doing well until last May 2016. It might have been hand surgery and a shoulder Botox injection that caused a lot of extra pain, instead of relief, but after several months of depression, during the summer which are usually my best months, I thought maybe I should try another SSRI before winter kicked in, my worst time of year. Well, three weeks in and the Zoloft is not helping and my anxiety has been running higher than norm. So I don't know what to do. Because it's now Sept. And the cold will be starting soon I'm kind of anxious I make a good decision on this. Looking for any input 😊

I was on Wellbutrin. For years and stopped. Didn't take anything and was fine from sept 2015 until March of this year. I went back on Wellbutrin. Did ok but not great. Do I went in Zoloft. It made me feel awful. Zombie like. Then my doctor wanted to see if Adderal helped. It didn't. So I'm back on Wellbutrin. That's what makes me feel the best so far. Hope this helps!!! God bless!!

hi, you havnt mentioned what dosage of sertraline you are taking

but that aside, 3 weeks is way, way too little time to know if sertraline will work for you.  some people do get lucky and it works fast, but for most people, it can take several weeks (8-12 weeks is what most people need to know if the drug is the right one for them).

sertraline is really good when it works, i recommend to give it a couple of months to get into your system/adapt.

your anxiety higher than norm at the moment is perfectly normal (albeit really annoying of course) - that just means the sertraline is getting to work on you and you are having the 'feeling worse before feeling better' effect which is unfortunately very common with many depression/anxiety meds, not just sertraline.

keep us posted on your progress!

    Hi krista49686

I haven't been on this drug. I am on sertraline for neuropathic pain and low mood so can't comment on drugs that have been prescribed for anxiety.

I feel for you and hope your anxiety lessens.
