Stemetil medication

Is anyone that is suffering from MD off and on taking Stemetil regularly. If I feel just slight fullness in my bad ear I feel light headed and take a Stemetil. Not sure if I should be doing this or waiting for a more severe sign. Have been told not to take Stemetil willy nilly.  Any comments please.

I'm in Australia Lizzie and have been to 3 different ENT specialist and all have prescribed Stemetil. They did say only use them when necessary and I think is not for long use. Yes they are prochlorpetazine.

Sorry Maria I just googled Stemetil & discovered it was prochlorperazine which I used to take if I felt sick by putting against my gum. Unfortunately I did not notice it shouldn't be taken if there was a history of blood clots in the family which there is. It gave me a racing heartbeat where I nearly thought I was having a heart attack  & my temperature soared & from dripping sweat to being ice cold & totally disoriented with horrible nightmares so stopped them.

Oh dear Lizzie. Yes probably no suitable for everyone. When I have an attack if bad I actually get straight to Drs or call a lovely if I can't stand and I get a Stemetil injection. Triple dose of tablets. Takes a while but only thing that works for me.

      Hi Margaret,

I tried Stemitil at first if I was nauseous or couldn't stop being sick but it made me quite ill.  I take Betahistine  16mg x 3 daily & 10mg of Amitriptyline at bedtime, it guarantees me a sound nights sleep with no pin pricking sensation in my head.
