stemm cell therapy completed

I had the stemm cell therapy 2 months ago now in Italy from Dr.Casabone. I have heard that 2 Docters are now offering it in England. It may not be a cure and I really don't know how long it will work but it works for me now which is the important thing.

Since the operation I only use emu oil. I had a check last week with a gynocologist and she confirmed that there are no symptoms of LS. It could well be that I need a second treatment in autumn but Dr.Casabone thought I had a very mild form and one treatment would be enough.

I did a lot of research on the subject and its more like taking fat from one part of the body and inserting it into another part plus the enriched plasma which stimulates growth.

It is expensive but if other docters can start offering this treatment then maybe it will become a standard therapy one day. I really really hope so for everyone that has this condition.

I will try to do an update at least once a year and keep people aware that there are options with which they can argue for in their own country.

    Hi marie05247

I hope this works and it is something that I read about last year and thought sounded promising.

It is a shame you have to pay for it, as a pensioner on just the state pension, it is, unfortunately, something I cannot afford.

I think many of us will be pleased to hear how it progresses. I wish you luck and sincerely hope it does work and that it becomes available on NHS.

Glad to hear that this treatment has so far been a success for you.  My good wishes go with you for the future and I hope that you post for many years with similar success stories.  Good luck

I would love more detail about your treatment with Dr. Casabone. Would you be willing to chat offline or via SKYPE? I am in the U S and although I hear one flinic in CA is doing the procedure I know Dr Casbone has more experience

do you think that the transfer of fat was the key?

      Hello Marey,

I think the fat transfer is really important. It is used in reconstructive surgery with women who have for various reasons loss of tissue. The aging process - menopause is the commonest reason but after radical surgery is also necessary. It is however quite painful afterwards, which suprised me but is relative - when you think how much discomfort you have on a daily basis from LS.

The discomfort lasts about 2 weeks. - Marie

    Very good news Marie,

Would you be able to tell us a bit more about the whole procedure perhaps?

      Hello Hanny,

the procedure involves blood being taken and presumably with centrifuging the plasma and platelets are separated only 5ml of the 50ml in total of the blood is then used for the operation and directly  reinjected into the vaginal tissue. I was sedated with something similar to valium as I dosed off and woke up (fortunatley) when everything was over.

I had a pressure bandage over the right side of my abdomen where the fat was sucked out. This is mixed in with the platelets and also injected directly into the vaginal tissue. It took about 4 weeks for the feeling from the fat suction to wear off. I was actually suprised how much it hurt. I find it quite strange that some women have fat suction for cosmetic reasons. Somewhat masochistic. I can understand the neccesity to use the fat to encourage the tissue growth. It's all quite bumpy for at least 4 weeks then seems to settle down. After 6 weeks you can have sex again althougth I waited longer as I had to use vaginal dilators for a week. I'd used them before and was suprised to find I'd shrunk down a size. Either due to lack of sex or the new tissue. It took a week before I progressed onto the largest dilator and then sex, which to my great relief was pain free. I can't say it was the best which some women seem to say as I was too concerned would it hurt or would it be even possible. But I'm looking forward to next weekend!

Thanks Marie for more info!  You were indeed brave.  So, is this something permanent?  Is it just plumping the tissues, or does it reverse the autoimmune disorder for some reason?  This is all a very new idea to me. So inspiring.  Thank you for sharing a bit of your story!  --Suzanne

    Hi Marie,

I look forward to talking with you more.  I am delighted to hear you were able to have sex.  I had given up on that possiblility altogether.  It does sound like the fat removal procedure was painful, but if the itching and sleepless nights go away, it would be worth a few weeks discomfort I hope.

thanks so much for this detail marie...really pleased for you!

what particularly interests me is the very positive effect that fat had on your architecture...i appreciate it was injected but am wondering if animal fat used locally eg goose fat repeatedly applied and if adequately absorbed might help to promote some sort of inflation of the labial tissue.....just musing...

hope you'll stay with us....i am sure you are probably detecting the great warmth that we feel for you ...and the appreciation of your bravery!!

    with love and hugs

    marey xx

      Hi Marey,

Reading the research, it seems what is critical is using one's own fat cells in order to avoid complications from rejection.  There is not a problem then with the body fighting to accept the implant.
