Side effects will more than likely hit you in the first two weeks and then start to subside.  You can't feel worse than having anxeity so just go for it and once the side effects start to wear down you'll be A OK.

I was sooooo scared 😓, sobwhat I did the first day was take only a quarter of the tablet, then next day half for 5

Days, it made me feel sleepy and a bit heavy, I did get a bit more anxiety too, but I was getting anxiety anyway, Dr gave me diazepam to help.

She wont be giving me anymore tho, so I'm a bit worried, walking helps me tho, and the gym, but mornings I feel awful as do a lot of people I think. Let us know how you get on, all the best, we are all going through it, so you are not alone sweet heart.

    hi

most likely your already suffering the symptoms that these pills will sadly give you, yes sertraline can be bad with side effects but  without them, can you cope with how you are now,if your one of the few then you may not have a bad start with them, but like most on here will tell you, it can take from at least 2 weeks and some upto 8 weeks to fully work,i could not have done it without sertraline, and i deffinatley dont ever want to go back to how i was in the first place.you will get there but at a cost,  and dont forget if it does get bad the docs will help you with it.for me it was well worth the struggle and i wont lie it was a struggle. some pack in, some have no problems at all and some manage fine, if it does get bad the doc may prescribe you propropolol not sure how to spell it, that will calm the panic and adrenalin rush you will experiance, it doesn't help to always read parts of the information on the instruction sheet, remeber they have to include everything to cover themselves, 1000s are taking sertraline and if they can do it im sure you can too.take care

Thank you for you advice! I haven't started taking it yet, my first pill is tomorrow so I'm worried with all the potential side effects. But it's taken me a lot of courage to go to the doctor so I'm gonna try these and I hope I can get through the worse to get better.

I have never taken this Zoloft (brand name)....but I know my sister did and she did well with it.

Good luck....it won't kill you, it can only help you or NOT help you...so try it...and like someone already said...usually side affects subside in a short time (which seems like forever).

The pill I take I always get a mild headache...and the urge to use the bathroom for about 1.5 weeks...then I feel nothing when I take it...and my mood and behaivors definetly change for the better.  You have nothing to lose.

I have been on sertraline for 4 days and the only side effects I feel is nausea and an increase in anxiety that happens with every antidepressant when you first taking it. I didn't want to take pills either and read the side effects, but I have been really bad for the last 7 weeks and I can't continue like his. I can't cope. I'm hoping they kick in soon. Make sure you eat before taking them or you will feel worse. It's really hard bc I do not have an appetite what so ever. If it's really bad you can take the ginger gravol with it or regular gravol if you arent taking a benzo/ antianxiety. My doctor prescribed me Ativan to take for the anxiety and panic while it gets into my system.

Hi, I've suffered depression and really bad anxiety for about 2 months now, I started sertraline 2 weeks ago,but the first week I only took half a 50mg dose for first 6 days as I was so scared of taking antidepressants, the depression and anxiety together has been such a struggle to say the least. I have been suicidle, so much despair keep thinking I may be going mad, its so scary. My question is does anyone feel worse in the morning, I wake up with so much panic and doom, I cry and feel like ending it, as the day progresses I get better, my Dr gave me some diazpam to help, I only need 3mg and it calms me down a bit, but then I need to get out and walk and see a fr I end that understands then by the evening I not to bad. My Dr said she will not be giving me anymore diazipam, so I have about 5 x 2mg left, dont know what I'm going to do, she's also keeping me on 50mg for another 2 weeks, I'm just scared if after 2 weeks I'm exactly the same. I guess that's my negative depression talking?? Its just so scarry, I hate that I've lost my life even tho I'm still alive, if that makes sense?

I know exactly what your going through, I have been going through the same thing for the last 2 months. I wake up every morning in a severe panic to the point I throw up. Mornings are the absolute worst. I take an ativan and then it comes back around 5 hous later. I am nervous about becoming addicted and having withdrawl being on the ativan but I can't cope without it. The worst thing for me is I had to go through trying 3 different antidepressants bc none of them agreed with me and I couldn't take them. So throughout all the trail and error I have had to take the ativan so I have been on it for 7 weeks now only at the lowest dose but instill worry. I have only been on sertraline for 4 days and hope that the anxiety will lessen so I can stop the ativan. I have never felt so bad. It's really hard to deal with and I can't cope.

Oh Tracy I feel your pain, its awful it

Really is, may I ask what ativan is? Is it a type of valium like diazipam? And does I work once you take it? I also

Tried one other AD 2 months ago,

Citalopram, I had one tablet and it gave me the most severe panic attack,

And since then my panic and anxiety got even worse ,I think it was very

Traumatic for me. So I didn't want to

Take AD. But I got so bad I had to do something. Well I'm ahead of you on the sertraline, so if you want I can let you know how I'm getting on, I just

dread waking up, do you sleep at night?

Ativan is a benzo like Valium. It's called lorazepam. I have no trouble falling asleep at night but I can't stay asleep. I wake up all through the night. I dread going to bed bc I don't want to wake up in the morNing like that and then get through another daysad

Ok, so its like diazipam, I usualy have to wear my self out in order to fall a

Sleep naturally, but I also wake up in the night or really early llike 5 or 6am, even though I'm so tired still, the

Anxiety just wont let me calm sleep,

and if I do fall back a sleep after

taking 3mg of diazipam, it will only be for Hal an you then i wake up with

panic a doom and gloom again, its sooo awful, I really do feel for you, and it does help to be able to speak to somone about it, who understands, how are you feeling on the sertraline?
