Good Morning every one.

Just wondering i went to see my rehmotologist on Monday following my blood tests and my ESR levels were very high, he said it could be a condition now called polymyalgia rheumatica and has given me steriods to try only 14 days worth. He said if it is this I would notice the difference within days, i havent started them yet thought would start them Saturday as worried of any reaction and have had so much time off of work allready i cannot afford to take any more. Was wondering if anybody had had or tried this.

Hello, Lindsey, I have fibromyalgia and polymyalgia rheumatica (PMR). I was diagnosed with PMR over two and a half years ago. Started on a 20 mg dose of prednisone. Prednisone really helped the pain and stiffness of PMR. It has taken me a long time to figure out what pain and stiffness is PMR and what is fibromyalgia. I found the most support and help from the patient forum about PMR. Unfortunately both of these diseases are very life changing. Prednisone is the only thing that helps PMR because it is an autoimmune disease. Best wishes to you, Linda

I started with PMR a few years ago and steroids had an immediate effect on PMR thats how they know you have it !

Mine then went on years later to be Fibro which does not respond to steroids at all so I cannot understand why you have been given steriods

Fibro is not curable only managable with the right medication

    Ask your specialist more questions

    Hope this helps

    Morning Everyone,

I started the steriods 5 days ago, i have noticed a very slight improvement, maybe my arms feel slightly better but still hve pain all over mainly shoulders, neck and back, so will continue with the steriods until i go back on Friday and see if there is anything that can be offered. I have noticed for the last couple of weeks i have had pain in my lower Jaw, i am a little nervous since having a heart bypass in December wheather symptons are fibro or heart related. Do any one get Jaw pain.

    Best wishes to all xx
